He looked at me seriously as we started making our way back to his truck, that was the goal to calm him down enough to walk away.
“If you loved me, you would try Beast.”
He looked at me and gave me a crooked smile. Soon as we reached the back of his truck, Laquanna was standing to her feet. She was moving frantically trying to get herself inside of her car. I got into the passenger side as Beast stood outside the driver’s door, he had sparked a blunt and started giving orders to his guards. Laquanna pulled up alongside him and I wished she would have kept going. What happened next caused my pressure to rise sky-high.
“That’s why Nia’s not dead bitch! She’s my bitch and she eats my pussy very well!”
She pressed the gas hard and peeled off as Beast aimed his pistol and started shooting, busting out her back windows. She hit the corner hard.
“FUCK!!!! I'M GOING TO KILL THAT BITCH AND NIA TOO IF SHE’S ALIVE! I TOLD PRAISE THAT BITCH WASN’T DEAD!”
I had nothing to say all I could do was shake my head. This was all way too much. Praise told me how Nia was his soulmate. He was very honest about everything, so I didn’t know how bad this would mess him up. He hit the back window with so much force it shattered, I got out of the car trying to do damage control.
“Get in on the passenger’s side Beast. We got to go before the police come.”
I told the guards to get in the back seat, I got in on the driver's side and sighed before starting the car. Brick had to get all of the glass from off the back seat before getting in. Usually, Praise wouldn’t smoke around me. I had to remember that Praise was now riding the back seat to Beast. Beast was very blunt, disrespectful, and mean as hell. He was driven off anger alone. He puffed on the blunt and looked out the window, his breathing was hard as his chest heaved up and down.
“I’m going to fucking kill her with my bare fucking hands! You hear me Kayori!”
His voice boomed as I just looked at him calmly.
“You have to think things through thoroughly Beast. I don’t want you to go to jail. Why don’t you take your medicine before we hit the road so you can calm down and take a nap baby.”
I talked softly, trying to give him some reassurance.
“I ain't no pussy ass soft nigga! You can’t fuck with my head like you do Praise!” His voice boomed as I just stared at him making sure to look him in the eyes.
“I never said that! If I go anywhere with you Beast, you’re going to take those pills!” I yelled right back at him. He asked for my keys so he could grab water out of my house. I was glad that he didn’t try to fight me on it. Beast seemed very defensive. It would probably take a while before Praise would come back to the forefront.
“Have you guys ever met Beast in this form?” I asked the bodyguards. They nodded their heads up and down.
“He means well,” was all Brick offered up. They both remained quiet. At least they also knew what Praise suffered from. I watched Beast walk back to the car, he got in with an attitude, huffing and puffing. Opening up his glove compartment, snatching the pill bottle out he put four in his hand.
“The max to take is three Beast. You really only supposed to take two. Only take three,” I told him as he looked at me with annoyance, he put one back into the bottle then threw them back into the glove compartment. Soon as he popped them in his mouth, I headed straight to the freeway.
“Take me to my momma's house,” he punched the address into the GPS. Sitting his chair back a little he finished up the remainder of his blunt. We had a five-hour drive which was long as hell for me. Beast operated the radio turning on Tupac “I ain't mad at cha” he rapped it word for word until he started to yawn. That was the effect of the medicine, taking two he could control himself from falling to sleep but three would definitely put him right out. that’s exactly what I wanted. Beast was on his way to sleep and when he woke back up, I knew I would be greeted by Praise.
“I love you Kayori.”
Before I could respond he fell right to sleep. I turned Tupac off and played Sade to ease my nerves.
“I love you too, Beast.”
I stroked his hand with my free hand and kept cruising on the freeway with a million thoughts running through my mind. One of the main thoughts that crossed my mind is months ago, I never thought I would be involved this deep with a man like Praise. I knew that it was too late to turn around now because the feelings were clearly there and strong.
Chapter Fifteen
PRAISE
I sat in my mom's living room trying to put my thoughts together. It had been a while since Beast took over me. It felt like I was watching a movie out of control of what I said or did. Beast was way harsher than me. I saw and heard everything yet couldn’t control anything. The way Kayori handled Beast made me realize how much I needed somebody like her in my corner. I didn’t want to toss all of my problems on her, and not help her with her own number of things she needed help with. She embraced all of me, even that dark side of me that I thought nobody wanted to deal with. She didn’t look at me with judgment, all I saw was compassion in those pretty brown eyes of hers. Kayori was currently at her mom's house cleaning it and preparing for our evening that I had planned for her at the beach. I kind of hate that we had to leave Cali today. I wanted to actually catch up on shit out here then chill with Kayori all night long. I understood we had an event to go to though, it meant a lot to her to make her best friend's grand opening. I had Stone come out here, I had finally placed the house I once shared with Nia for sale. It was a property that I needed to let go. Stone was going to pick up the check, get it deposited in my business account then meet back up with me at my mom’s house. I also wanted to have an emergency meeting at my warehouse with all my street runners.
I wanted out of the game, yet I didn’t have anyone I saw fit to run things just yet. I would have handed the shit to Stone; he had already declined before I offered it to him. He had a baby on the way so I already knew he was on the same shit I was on. Some niggas wanted to be in this shit forever. For me, I got all I needed out of the game. Now it was time to really live and be a real businessman. I needed to focus on my health and my mental and being a good father to Mattea.
My mind went to Kayori and how she handled herself when it came to Laquanna. Most females ran the other way when they were faced with Laquanna. Kayori held her own shit down, all that timid, quiet good girl shit went out the window when she discovered how bold Laquanna was popping up at her house. I wanted to strangle her myself, I had vowed not to ever put hands on another female. I was not raised that way; I couldn’t lie when Kayori put hands on her it made my dick super hard. Laquanna was my trigger in the worse way. Every time she came around, she tried her hardest to bring the worse out of me. People didn’t know what folks like me battled with. How many times I save her life, Beast tried so many times to come out and take over just to kill her. The voice was very adamant on voicing in my head that she was a traitor. All it took was for her to get so angry that I found somebody that was finally not scared of her ass. She didn’t know what else to say so she made up the most fucked up shit. That sent Beast in overdrive. Lately, I’ve been having dreams of Nia being alive and people close to me either killing me. I knew that was the mental part of me, the sane part of me knew Nia couldn’t possibly be alive. She had a huge funeral, which is why I sat patiently waiting for my mom to get back home. I had a very important question to ask her since she went to Nia’s funeral and was allowed inside. Her bitch ass family had the police waiting for me. I never got to say my goodbye to Nia the proper way. The bottom of my stomach tightened when my mom walked in the door. She looked surprised to see me. She smiled, then stepped out of her Gucci loafers and took a seat right across from me.
“What do I owe the pleasure for this surprise visit son?”
She reached into her bra and sparked a cigarette then told me to grab her a bottle of water. Once she got good and comfortable, I started my questions.
