Nic was seated in Griffith’s lap, legs thrown around the alpha’s hips and ass pressed into the space he made between his thighs.
“You kept me sane in there, even if you didn’t know it.”
Nic nodded against his shoulder, sucking in a wet breath of his homey, cornbread scent and letting it soothe him. He couldn’t speak, his throat hurt too much.
“I’d get myself into something, and think, Nic would be so disappointed right now.”
A sad chuckle dripped from his lips.
“That’s how I got out on good behavior. Because of you. I knew you’d be so pissed if I got myself stuck in there for longer just because I was a hothead.”
Squeezing his arms tighter around the alpha, he didn’t know what to say.
“I love you,” Griffith whispered.
“I love you too.”
“And you’re not running away from me this time.”
Nic pulled back, wiped his eyes and nose on whoever’s shirt he found so he could see Griffith clearly. “I know. I don’t want to.”
Griffith’s gaze shuttered closed, as if he’d been waiting to hear those words. “Good.”
The alpha surged forward and took his lips, and Nic’s sinuses were so clogged, but he just held his breath, chased Grif’s tongue with his own
Yeah, he could suffer through a kiss. If he had to.
His alpha pulled back, breathless. “Let me take care of you. Please,” he whispered, lips brushing against Nic’s with every word.
“Okay,” Nic agreed.
Their lips met again and Nic tilted his head for a better angle.
He wanted to take care of the alpha too. And the only way to do that was to be together.
Starting right. Fucking. Now.

Nic was boneless, lying against Grif’s side where the alpha lay on his stomach. There was definitely still cum leaking out of his ass, but Nic literally couldn’t care less. He was warm and sated and happy with his alpha next to him.
He traced a hand over his back, feeling a bumpy patch, and frowned before rubbing his finger over it. Griffith stiffened beneath his touch.
“Where’d you get this?” Nic asked, sitting up to stare at the puckered scar in the middle of his back.
Grif shivered, and Nic watched the goosebumps crawl across his skin at the touch.
“I pissed off the wrong guy,” Griffith muttered, face turned away.
Nic blinked. “In prison.”
“Yes.”
His stomach churned at the news, imagining Griffith bleeding out in a cell somewhere. It pissed him off.
“I didn’t take you for someone to be that stupid.”
The alpha in question turned his head back to face him, a frown in place. “Excuse me? What does that mean?”
