Maeve tilted her head up to him, feeding into the kiss with every ounce of desire that flooded her. His fingers carefully unthreaded from her hair, and she found herself holding her breath as his touch drifted along her collarbones before sliding lower.

“Can I?” he whispered into the kiss, fingers hovering above her breast and the attached chain, warm from the press of their skin.

“Fuck, finally—” Her breath exploded out of her as Galen gently twitched his finger on the thin, one hundred percent silver chain attached at each end to the heart piercings in both nipples. A jolt of arousal pinged between the slight pull to the pulsing need in her core.

He paused, dark eyes still locked on hers, surveying her reaction. “Good?”

Maeve barely registered that he didn’t get hurt from the chain.

So… not a vampire, right? Or was it werewolves that were supposed to react to silver?

In that moment, Maeve couldn’t remember, and with Galen staring down at her so dark and delicious and wanting, she didn’t want to.

“Good,” she breathed. Reaching up, she fisted her hand in Galen’s dark, wet curls and tugged him down to her. “Very good,” she repeated before crushing their lips together.

Galen tasted her lips, just a tease, before he was sliding his lips lower, over her jaw. Maeve tilted her head up, giving him more room without even having to think about it. His smile branded her skin as he nipped and kissed and teased bruises into her throat before ever deciding to move lower.

“I’ve got work tomorrow, y’know,” she warned, though it came out breathless and totally defeated the purpose of the warning at all.

His hum didn’t seem very concerned.

“It’s too warm for turtlenecks,” she continued, but arched her neck more as he teased right under her ear.

“Wear a scarf or something,” he mumbled between kisses.

Maeve couldn’t hide the smile curling her lips, the absolute delight that burst in her chest. “Still too warm.”

“A cravat,” he suggested.

Maeve pretended to think it over with a hum. “I don’t have an outfit that warrants one.”

“I’ll buy you one,” he answered, finally drifting lower to her collarbones.

“I could just wear them proudly,” she whispered with a knowing little grin.

He stiffened against her, thigh brushing between her legs, and she jolted at the contact. Then he continued, dipping lower across her chest, lips leading the way as he hummed against her. “I find that option most favorable,” he rumbled, words spilling across her skin.

Maeve heaved a breath as his hand cupped her waist, sliding up to brush his thumb along the underside of her breast. Chills rippled across her skin, tightening her nipples and making her shiver beneath him.

Galen paused, lips poised over her hard, pink, jewel-tipped breast, gaze lifting to hers.

It was completely unfair for Galen to take her breath away like this, totally against the rules for him to look at her like that, eyes all wide and dark and wanting, desire shining from their depths like so many stars.

Before she could part her lips with a plea on her tongue, he lowered his head.

She shook at the hot drag of his tongue across the piercing. He traced around it, stopping to suck the chain between his lips and tug. Her back arched as she chased him for more, but he followed the chain instead, sprinkling chaste kisses along her sternum. Her nails tightened over his shoulders, combing through his hair to hold him against her.

“Love these,” he murmured hotly across her skin. “Best purchase you ever made.”

“You said that about the lingerie last time too,” she mused, though her breath caught as he nipped her skin.

“You have excellent taste,” he quipped, lips dragging across her skin in the hottest way.

Maeve couldn’t think of a retort, though he pushed a loud moan out of her mouth as he tugged at the chain again, pinched between his teeth.

Her fingers tightened in his hair as he stopped, drew her gaze with his hesitation, and she glanced down to find it wasn’t hesitation at all that stopped him in his path. He gazed up at her with a smirk curling those full lips. “Good?” he asked. “Sounded good.”

“Good,” she agreed, and tried to pull his mouth back to her. “Very good.”
