Everything about the kiss was that and so much more. I had no control over my actions, my fingers digging into her skin as she mewled in my arms. My hand firmly planted around her rounded bottom, I dragged her onto her toes, crushing her body against mine. The scent of her was delicious, fueling the burning embers. I envisioned her writhing underneath me, just as she’d done before.

Begging me.

Hungering for me.

I was blinded by my hunger, savage in my actions as I sucked on her tongue, my heart racing. Spots floated in front of my eyes, swirling and pulsing in vivid colors. The electricity shooting between us was almost too intense, forcing me to break the kiss in order to breathe. I took gasping breaths, still so close, my lips planted only millimeters away. “You will be forced with others, but you will always be mine.”

I could see confusion in her eyes, concern but there was almost lingering longing, blindsiding both of us. She’d been brought here for a reason. Now, it was my requirement to find out why. To never fail her. To honor her.

Cassia darted her tongue across my lips, taking her time to explore, sensations rocketing through both of us. A slight giggle infused the passion and she pulled my head down, holding me in place. “You are… magnificent.” Another giggle. Another throaty breath. She was offering all of herself, unfettered by the why or the reason.

I ran my fingers down the cleft between her gorgeous ass cheeks, parting her legs and sliding the tip of my index finger to her pussy. Her wetness slickened my fingers, forcing yet another animalistic growl from my throat.

She lolled her head, moans and whimpers turning into guttural sounds. She crawled her fingers down the length of my chest, her fingers kneading, until she reached my cock. The second she wrapped her hand around my shaft, I roared.

“I. Want. You.” The words were muttered by the beast dwelling inside, not the man who’d vowed to protect her. I yanked her leg around my thigh, drawing her cunt closer. She licked and nipped my lips as she undulated, grinding her hips against me.

I was wild, finding it difficult to breathe.

“And I want you. I don’t…” A warm blush crept up from her long neck to her luscious cheeks as she fumbled to release my cock. Finally unfastening my pants, she slipped her hand inside, wrapping her fingers around my shaft. “So thick. So hard.”

The warmth of her hand as well as the jetting sensations left my body tingling. I allowed her to play, cupping and squeezing my balls, driving me to the point of absolute madness. I heard footsteps coming down the hall. “Everything is about to change.”

“Tell me.” She darted a look around my arm, her body shaking.

“I will never leave your side.”

Cassia jerked her hand away, anxiety returning.

A single hard thump on the door was followed by entrance from two clan soldiers and one of the females. In her hands was a large bundle. She gingerly placed it on the bed. “For the celebration tonight.” Her voice was soft, alluring and she smiled, giving a single nod.

Sighing, I released my hold, acknowledging the girl’s presence as well as the intended gift. “We will be ready.”

“I will let our king know.” The girl bowed her head before retreating.

The glare of the soldiers was the same as always. Distrust. Hate. They had no love for an intruder in their clan, a hybrid who would never be one of them. I slammed my hand against the stone, jerking back and breaking our connection.

“What is going on?” Cassia asked ever so quietly. “What celebration?’

“A Galerian custom.” I stalked toward the bed, eyeing the bag. I was angry. No, I was livid for various reasons and finding it difficult to control my actions. Yanking the bag into my hands, I dumped the contents, snorting seeing the beautiful materials and jewels unlike anything I’d ever seen on Earth. Diamonds. Rubies. Emeralds.

I knew there was much more to the Galerian clan than Steen had shared. Maybe he never would. I wasn’t in his inner circle.

Her steps were almost silent as she walked over, peering down. “What is all this? They’re beautiful.” She brushed her fingers across the jewels, shaking her head.

“A bribe.” The words left my mouth before I could stop them. My nagging intuition left a burning pit in my stomach. Where did they get the jewels? The incredible dress made of spun silk?

“You don’t trust them. Do you?”

I shrugged my shoulders, my fists clenching involuntarily. “I don’t trust anyone.”

She slipped her hand into mine, curling her fingers and the grip becoming firm yet shaky. “Who am I going to be mated with?” Disappointment shone in her eyes, creating an ache in my heart. I couldn’t be everything for her, whether on this planet or another.

“It is undecided, although I’d been given the honor of being one of them.” I squeezed her hand, rubbing my thumb back and forth across her delicate skin. Foreboding feelings remained furrowing into the back of my mind. There was no trust of these people any more than I’d ever had with my own. A sickness gnawed at my gut, but there was little I could do.

“One. This is insane. I’m not ready for something like this. I just wanted a new life. A normal life.” Cassia’s tone held such anguish.

“There is no such thing as normal. Not on Earth and not here. We adapt. These people are decent and caring.”
