And still, Erik hadn’t released.

Brexin licked the back of my neck, sucking for a few seconds before releasing me, crawling away.

Erik tumbled me onto the bed, yanking one leg around his. “Now, I fuck you.” I have no idea how he was able to hold on, thrusting in and out. The entire bed shook from the force. His eyes were no longer human, gold and black, shimmering in the shadows. He was a ravaging beast, ready to fill me with his seed.

And only after several minutes of fucking me, devouring me, he finally did.

I clung to him as we both gasped for air and the strangest thing of all happened at that very moment. No matter the danger or the difficulties we would face, I knew we would all survive together as one.

And my heart was bursting with love.

CHAPTER 11

Erik

The light was dim, shadows dancing along the walls. For the first time in weeks, no nightmares had confronted my psyche, interrupting my sleep. I was rested, but a dull ache remained in my heart. I could feel her arms wrapped around me, one leg thrown over my hip. This felt so right, more so than I could have ever imagined. Being with her was wonderful. Sharing her was still difficult but a necessity and a requirement.

I heard the sound of heaving male breathing and a cold shiver spun into my legs. I thought about the vision I’d had, the ugliness and what it could mean. I still couldn’t see Dr. Forrester’s face, although I was no longer certain why it mattered. What I did know is that locked inside my brain were certain answers, anger and frustration blocking them.

At least there was some peace for now, although the threat of danger remained high. I was as amazed at David’s transformation as I’m certain others were with mine. However, my gut told me that there was much more to come.

“Mmm…” Cassia shifted, stretching her arm until her hand connected with my face. She lifted her head, a smile on her face. “Is it morning?”

“Almost.” I rubbed her arm, uncertain of what to say or expect. Steen had insisted we prepare for a battle, but against who? The remaining human soldiers from the compound? Or was Steen privy to the knowledge that another shuttle was en route?

Resting her chin on my chest, she gazed into my eyes. “Then what are we going to do?”

“That is a very good question.”

“If this experiment fails, what are the chances that humans can survive on this planet? I know the weather conditions are harsh, the oxygen saturation lower, but humans can adapt.”

“What are you suggesting?”

“I’m suggesting that these experiments have nothing to do with weather and everything to do with the continuation of two races. A deal made.”

I lowered my head and brushed the hair out of her eyes. “Between humans and Galerians.”

“Exactly.” Her voice was barely audible.

“Then this has been going on for much longer than any of the scientists wanted us to believe.”

“Yes.”

“What are you thinking?”

Inhaling, she rubbed her hand across my chest, tracing in aimless patterns. “The experiments can’t fail or it could mean the eradication of two species.”

Her words were frank, sending a chill to my core. I pulled her as tightly against my body as possible, drinking in her sweet scent. “Then we can’t allow that to happen.” As if there was anything I could do to alter the future.

“You murmured in your sleep,” she said in passing.

“And what did I say?”

“Something about the deal that had been made.”

I chuckled, rubbing my jaw. “Visions from the past.”

“A deal made with Dr. Forrester.”
