Hannah groaned. “I don’t think I can handle this.”

I chuckled. “Come on, it’ll be fun.”

She took a long drink of coffee. “Fine.”

She got up, and I headed to the kitchen, pulling the cinnamon buns from the oven. Despite OD’s appearance last night, I was surprisingly chipper. I decided it was the incredible blow job Hannah gave me in the living room, plus the intense sex marathon we had in our room afterward. She’d cried “oh” more times than I could count. I especially liked it when it came out sounding breathy and hot.

I poured us more coffee, and Hannah appeared, her hair neatly braided, her skin glowing. She was dressed much the way I was, in sweats and a shirt. I narrowed my eyes at her. “Is that my shirt?” I asked, indicating the too-large T-shirt she sported.

A grin played on her mouth. “Maybe.”

I leaned over and kissed her. “I like it.”

We munched on the warm rolls, sipping coffee, not saying much. The sound of the front door opening made me grin, and I met Hannah’s wide-eyed gaze. “Showtime,” I mouthed. I stood and looked down the hall. Cherry was in the doorway, Dom on the step. He was saying something to her in a low voice, and she was shaking her head. I tried not to laugh at her outfit. The shirt she was wearing did not belong to her. Obviously, mother and daughter liked to borrow their man’s clothes. I had a feeling Dom was as okay with it as I was.

“Morning, kids!” I sang out, startling them. “We got breakfast on the table. Come on in, Dom. No need to stand outside like a degenerate or something.”

“Dom was just leaving,” Cherry protested, the color on her cheeks high.

“Breakfast?” Dom said at the same time.

“Fresh cinnamon rolls from Lulu’s.”

“He’ll take one to go.”

Dom shook his head. “I’ll eat in.”

Cherry huffed an impatient sound and brushed past me, hurrying into the kitchen. She looked like she’d been worked over good. Hannah was going to be horrified. I met Dom’s calm gaze with a grin. “Good night?”

He came in, shutting the door. “Be respectful. I’m trying to win her over.”

“Scout’s honor.”

He hung his head. “Well, I’m fucked.”

Laughing, I clapped him on the shoulder. “It’s all good.”

In the kitchen, I grabbed two more cups and the coffeepot. Cherry and Hannah were talking, quiet and fast, their heads bent together. They were both gesturing, their hands flying around as they spoke, the gestures similar. Cherry looked flushed and nervous. Hannah looked as horrified as I thought she would.

“You’re looking at your future,” Dom muttered. “Good Lord, that woman can talk. I had to get inventive in order to keep her quiet.”

I almost choked on my coffee. I side-eyed him, and he winked, not looking embarrassed. “Shut up, yourself,” I muttered, pushing the buns his way. “Fill your mouth with one of those instead.”

He grinned, taking a bite. “Not as sweet as what I filled it with earlier.”

Cherry heard him, her head snapping in his direction. He winked at her. “Yes, Cherry G. I’m talking about you.”

“Well, stop it,” she and Hannah said at the same time. I tried not to laugh but failed. They looked so alike, acted the same, and Dom was correct. Hannah was a younger version of her mom. I was more than okay with it. “Sweet buns?” I asked Cherry, lifting the plate. “Or did you get enough of Dom’s?”

Cherry’s eyes widened. Dom chuckled, and Hannah glared at me. Cherry took one, primly thanking me. Then she and Hannah began talking again, ignoring our presence. Dom and I sipped and chewed in silence for a moment. Keeping my voice hushed, I told him about our run-in with OD. He blew out a low whistle. “He’s got a hard-on for you.”

“Sadly.”

He reached for the pot and filled his cup. “We need to keep an eye out. It sounds like he’s following you.”

“Great,” I muttered. “A police stalker.”

“We’ll figure this out, kid. Just stick close to home and keep your nose clean. He’ll get tired.”
