“Yes, I’m fine,” I lied as I sat down on the leather seat. He shrugged and leaned forward, holding the door.
“I didn’t want to say anything, but I think your skirt ripped,” he whispered before reaching behind the seat and pulling out a jacket. "Here. You can help cover it up with this." God, I wanted to die.
"Thank you," I said as I quickly tied the jacket around my waist. He smiled as he closed the door, and, making his way around to the driver's side, he opened the door and got in.
"Don't worry about it," he told me with a gentle smile. "Anyways, what's the address?" I gave him my address, and he input it into the navigation system built into his dash before nodding.
"Huh, that apartment complex isn't far from my office," he said as he smiled at me. "I was planning on waiting, but do you mind if I stop by my office on the way. I have to get some paperwork from one of my managers, and he leaves in less than an hour." I thought for a second.
There shouldn't be anything wrong with stopping by his office. After all, he just said he needed to meet up with someone else, so it's not like there wouldn't be any witnesses if anything happens. Besides, why would he try anything in a public area like an office? He'd have to be a real deviant. If he were trying to get me to go to his house, I'd say no, but I didn't see the harm with it being an office.
"Sure," I said with a smile. "I don't see the harm." He smiled and nodded.
"Thank you," he said as he started up the vehicle. "I appreciate it." I smiled and shook my head.
"Not a problem," I told him as we drove.
The first several minutes were long and awkward, and Xavier looked like he was getting antsy. He tried turning on the radio, but he eventually turned it back off and smiled at me after turning through the stations.
"So, tell me about yourself," he told me. "You have someone special in your life?" When I shook my head, he shook his head. "Is it something to do with the right one not coming along?" I shook my head.
"No," I told him. "I've always been kind of overlooked all my life." He frowned a little.
"Really?" he asked as he stared at me. "Why on Earth would anyone ignore you?" I shrugged.
"I don't know," I admitted. "In all honesty, I guess everyone just didn't see me when all these other women made more of an impression than me." He shrugged and shook his head.
"I know what you mean," he said, and I stared at him in disbelief. "I had one ex who was always overlooked by everyone else, but she also had a twin who didn't like to share the spotlight." The sad look on his face made me want to pity him, even though I knew I had to watch out. One slip-up, and I was on the way to Heartbreak City.
"Do you still talk to her?" I asked. "You're ex, I mean." He shook his head.
"Unfortunately, I fucked up a month ago, and she left me," he admitted. "I've been trying to focus on my work ever since." He pulled into an almost empty construction site and turned off the truck before looking at me. "Do you want to come in? The area can be a little questionable at night." I nodded and smiled at him, feeling safer by the second.
I was certain that he had already talked to Derek, and Derek had warned him about Skye if he broke my heart with the way he was acting. Granted, Daddies didn't typically care what taken Littles said, but if that Little's Daddy requested it for the Little, they usually had a lot more respect for the request. Derek seemed like the type who genuinely cared about others, too, so I wasn't worried.
I followed Xavier into the trailer that operated as his office. When he opened the door, a woman was standing there talking to a man. She had long, flowing strawberry blonde hair, and her eyes shifted from Xavier to me and back before shaking her head.
"It's about time," she said as she stared at Xavier. "I've been waiting here all night." The man got up and looked at Xavier, who was glaring at the woman.
"I told her you were gone for the night, but she refused to leave," he said. "I wasn't expecting to see you, either, sir." Xavier shook his head.
"You're fine, Gabriel," he said as he stared at the woman. The man nodded and handed Xavier the files he was reviewing before grabbing his jacket and leaving the trailer. Once we were alone, Xavier continued to stare at the woman. "What do you want, Bianca?"
CHAPTER EIGHT
Xavier
"Well, since you asked," Bianca said, completely ignoring Stephanie, who was still standing by the door, "I wanted to see if you wanted to come over tonight and finish what we started this afternoon." She swayed over to me, and I shook my head, despite the arousal that attempted to betray me.
Of course, Bianca was here while I was trying to win over Stephanie. Whoever was fucking up my life right now had a sick sense of humor, and when I died, I was going to make them regret this. I shook my head as I backed away from her.
"No, Bianca," I told her. "We're not together, and you can't go around stalking me like this. That was a one-time thing, and you know it." Bianca smiled evilly at me as she shook her head.
"That's not what you said this afternoon," she said before glancing at Stephanie. "Who's this?" I burned in anger as Stephanie stared at me in confusion.
"Your ex?" she asked meekly, and I shook my head.
"The crazy twin," I said, and Bianca laughed as she shook her head and offered Stephanie her hand.
