"Fine, but it better be her making the first move," he agreed, and I chuckled.

"Look who's talking, Mr. Lady's Man," I grinned. "Anyways, go have fun with your Little. I promise I'll take care of her." He started to say something, but Stephanie came out of the bathroom.

"Are you ready to go?" she asked, and Xavier turned to smile at his Little.

"Of course, baby girl," he said with a strange smile on his face. He then glanced once more at me. "I mean it.…." With that, he and Stephanie left their room, and I closed both doors that connected our rooms.

"I never thought my little sister would be a Little," Rachel muttered under her breath as she flipped through the channels with her good hand. "She always seemed like the innocent type." I shrugged as I sat down on the separate bed and picked up my phone to read my e-book.

"I guess you never truly know siblings," I said as I picked up where I left off. "As much as I love my brother, I never thought that he'd settle down. When he told me he was getting with your sister, I told him he'd better be good to her. She's a great person and a wonderful supervisor." Rachel frowned as she looked at me.

"Do you work for her at the real estate company?" she asked, and I shook my head.

"Actually, I am the co-owner of the company that Xavier works at," I informed her. "We do a lot of business with the company your sister works for." Rachel's eyes lit up in hope.

"Xavier lets her work?" she asked in surprise, and I frowned and nodded.

"Yes," I said as I looked at her. "She doesn't do anything that she doesn't want to do, and he doesn't exactly control her life. Instead, he helps her with everything that she wishes to do. Within reason, of course." Her eyes widened as she stared at me.

"That's incredible!" she exclaimed. "I was never even allowed to have a bank account under my name." I shook my head.

"That's ridiculous," I told her. "After all, when I have Littles, I expect them to have a little bit of independence so that they have a little freedom. Even if they prefer to keep a job." She stared at me in disbelief.

"Wait, you're a Daddy, as well?" she asked, and I nodded.

"You don't have to worry about me," I told her. "In all honesty, I'm not looking for a Little right now, anyways. I'm still a little broken after my ex cheated on me." She nodded and looked a little relieved as she turned her attention back to the TV.

She was so small and vulnerable, and the cast was a giant bulky mess on her arm. I wasn't kidding when I said I was still hurting from my cheating ex. Besides, I was sure she wasn't interested in someone like me. I saw the way she stared at Xavier and Derek. She was just like every other Little.

"I am a little curious," she said rather suddenly. I turned to look at her.

"What's up?" I asked, and she smiled sweetly at me.

"Do you think I can get a job at the office Stephanie works at?" she asked, and I felt my heart stop dead in my chest. I don't know why I was hoping she had a question for me about us, but it was a little heartbreaking as I shrugged.

"You may have to talk to Derek and Skye, but I'd say you have a pretty good chance since your sister works for them," I told her. She nodded and went back to the TV.

CHAPTER FIVE

Rachel

I don't know what made me ask him that question, and I felt bad when I saw the heartbroken look on his face. It didn't seem right to leave things the way they were, but I didn't know what to do. In all honesty, I was afraid of getting hurt by jumping into another relationship too soon. So, instead of trying to keep the small talk up, I turned back towards the TV. After a while, there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Tristan asked as he motioned for me to hide. I had just started to approach the bathroom, and a familiar voice responded immediately.

"It's us," Stephanie called out from the other side. "Let us in." Tristan sighed in relief and opened the door.

On the other side of the door, despite only being gone for several minutes, Stephanie and Xavier were back and had managed to grab me all the toiletries I could need as well as at least three different outfits and a new pair of shoes. They had even gone through and gotten me a new cell phone under Xavier's name so that I had something to communicate with. Once I had showered, thanks to Stephanie's help, we went back to the main part of the room and found that Derek had returned with take-out. The men all went into Stephanie and Xavier's side of the room, and Stephanie and I sat down to talk.

"So, does Xavier treat you well?" I asked, and Stephanie nodded as she slurped up her chicken lo mein.

"Yes, he does," she said as she smiled at me. "He's been pretty supportive of my new position in the company, too. He did ask if I would consider giving up on work, but because Skye and Derek fired everybody a month ago, I told him it wouldn't be fair." I nodded and stared down at my plate.

"That's nice," I agreed as I looked at her. "I should have left Victor when he made me shut down my account." Stephanie shook her head at me.

"Don't think about it," she told me. "What matters right now is that we get you settled down in a stable environment as far away from that man as possible." I nodded in agreement.

"What about the other two?" I asked. "Derek and Tristan?" She shrugged at me.
