CHAPTER EIGHT

Nathan

No matter what I had tried to do over the last week, Megan seemed completely uncomfortable around me, and I started to distance myself in order to make sure I wasn't crossing any lines. I wasn't sure what I had done to make her so wary of me, but I hoped that I would be able to make it up to her. I really didn't like her, and I wanted to get to know her better.

When Megan finally had a day off, it was Rebecca and I in the kitchen baking everything, and I found it hard to focus on the task at hand. Rebecca didn't seem to notice that first, but, after messing up several batches of cookies and muffins, some of the easiest things to bake, she eventually sent me out into the dining room to help keep the dining room clean while she continued to bake. Once our lunch break finally came, she had come to confront me.

I finally told her how I felt about Megan and how it had been bothering me that she had been distancing herself ever since the first day. At first, I thought that I had done something wrong, but, when Rebecca confirmed that she didn't think I had done anything wrong, I knew that something else was up. After talking to me for a bit, Rebecca seem to get an idea and suggested that we invite Megan to spend time with us after work, saying that it would help build trust between us in order to help us out at work.

Originally, I thought the plan was crazy, but, after Rebecca explained how she, Sarah, and Lydia would convince Megan to spend time with us and then leave us alone long enough for Megan and I to talk, I started to believe that this could actually work. I already knew that the worst thing that could happen was Megan thought that I was into her and would reject me. While it was true that I liked her, and I was afraid of rejection, I would understand completely if she didn't want to be with me.

Being a Daddy, I was used to people not being comfortable with my particular kinks. A lot of people often judged me for it, but, in the Barbarians, there were several other Daddies and Littles, and they all understood completely the same struggle I went through. In fact, Rebecca was actually Russell's Little, and she agreed to help me see if Megan was a little. So after considering everything, I finally agree to Rebecca's crazy plan, and we accept the plan into motion as soon as the bakery was closed for the day.

Miraculously, Megan agreed to the outing, but as soon as we arrived, she grew withdrawn when she saw me, and I started to think this was a bad idea. Rebecca didn't seem to notice and continued on with the plan. We drove to the movie theater, and she kept talking to Megan, hoping to ease her into the situation so that she didn't feel uncomfortable. By the time we had purchased the movie tickets and sat down, Megan seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself.

Megan sent next to me in the theater, and the two of us shared a bucket of popcorn as we watched the movie. Halfway through the movie, Megan got up and said that she had to use the bathroom, and I decided to leave as well in order to refill the popcorn. The two of us exited the theater together, and we walked down the halls in silence. After a few minutes, I finally turned to Megan.

"Are you enjoying the movie?" I asked. She stopped as she turned to look at me, seeming shocked that I even spoke to her in the first place.

"Yes," she said, sounding a bit nervous as she spoke. "I love watching these kind of movies. It's a lot better than the stuff that they release for adults these days." I couldn't help it smile as I nodded.

"Kids' movies are often much better than adult movies," I agreed. When another silence fell between us, I continued. "I'm glad you came with us to see the movie. I've been looking forward to seeing you again." She frowned and turned to look at me.

"You can't possibly mean that," she said, a suspicious look washing over her. "After all, I'm just a coworker." Shaking my head, I chuckled.

"Honestly, I would prefer that you weren't just a co-worker," I admitted. "I really hope that we can be more than just coworkers. In fact, I hope that we could be even more than just friends." She frowned as she stared at me in confusion.

"What are you talking about?" she asked. Taking a deep breath, I realized that the best way to get this off my chest was to say it without beating around the bush.

"I really like you, Megan," I told her. "I've liked you since the day we met, and you told me to get out of your way and let you work." She lowered her gaze as she stared at the floor.

"You don't find it weird that I'm Rebecca's friend and your coworker?" she asked. Immediately, I shook my head.

"As long as you don't have a problem with me being her uncle," I replied. Seeing the look on her face, I realize that that was, in fact, the problem and shrugged. "You don't have to respond right away. Just let me take the time to show you that I do like you and do care about you. We could go on a few outings and just spend time together. It's all up to you and what you're comfortable with." After considering this for a moment, she finally nodded her head in response.

"Alright," she agreed. "I'll go on a few dates with you, but I don't want it to affect our relationship with Rebecca or our ability to work." Nodding in agreement, I smiled at her.

"Of course," I promised. "Whatever you say."
