Over the next few days, I felt as though everything had taken a turn for the better. Richard was now my Daddy, and we had started staying together in the same room and everything. The longer I was was at the compound, the more I started to appreciate everyone all the more.

"Allison, we need more muffins for the motorcycle show," said Rebecca as she looked hurried into the bakery. "How long do you think it will take?" Thinking for a moment, I shrugged.

"It should be a little while longer," I told her. "I'm usually allowed a bit more time to prepare than this." She sighed as she nodded in response.

It was our first annual motorcycle show that was meant to help raise money for the group in order to help Chase be able to afford to keep the compound for everyone. All the legitimate businesses were supposed to be contributing in any way shape or form they could in order to make the event successful, but, so far, the bakery was our biggest focus. After all, how else were we supposed to provide snacks for such a large motorcycle show?

Normally, I would have been in the bookstore right now, sorting out the books that had been ordered the night before, but, when Chase announced that they were going to be hosting the motorcycle show that same morning, Rebecca asked for all the help she could get. I hated that Chase never gave us enough time to plan for the event, but I couldn't say that I blamed him. After seeing what had happened with people like Trenton, it seems like it was the only way to get enough money to keep the motorcycle club running.

"After those muffins are done, do you mind pulling the cookie dough out of the fridge?" Rebecca asked as she stood next to me. "We need to get out as many cookies as possible, too." Glancing up at the clock above the refrigerator in the kitchen, I quickly did some calculations in my head.

Chase asked us to make as many treats as possible in order to fully support the motorcycle show. Considering that this event was meant for the whole town, it normally wouldn't be a big issue. However, we had a lot more work to do than we had expected.

"How are we on lemonade?" I asked as I continued to spoon the muffin batter into the muffin tin. "Also, is he having us make lunch or anything?" Rebecca shrugged as she helped spoon the batter into the muffin tins.

"Honestly, I don't know," she admitted. "He mentioned something about having someone bring over the grill so they could make hot dogs and hamburgers, but I haven't heard anything since." As if on cue, Chase knocked on the back door to the kitchen. A soft growl of annoyance escaped Rebecca as she went to answer it. "Yes?" Chase smiled when he saw her.

"Hey," he said as he looked around nervously at everything we were doing. "I hope you don't mind, but I was wondering if you guys would be willing to make sandwiches for everybody so long as I brought over the stuff for it?" Rebecca's jaw dropped in surprise as she turned to look at me before shaking her head at Chase.

"You really think this is a good idea?" she asked. "Especially since you've already sprung so much on us…" A gentle smile spread across his face as he stared at her.

"What are you talking about?" he asked immediately. "The event isn't even until this weekend. I just asked you guys to go ahead and do this so that everything was prepped for when we were ready." Annoyance and surprise washed over me as I turn to face him, considering everything he had just said.

"You mean to tell me that we've been struggling to get everything done all morning when the event isn't even until this weekend?" Rebecca asked, sounding incredibly annoyed as she spoke. Chase frowned as he nodded in response.

"I'll admit that the event is this weekend as I announced this morning," he corrected her as he looked around at the kitchen. "As far as everybody working so hard ever since they arrived, I feel like that was caused by miscommunication on your behalf." I could already tell that she was about to protest and raced to her side to stop her before she said anything that she would regret later on.

"Thank you for clearing up the confusion," I said with a polite smile as I tugged at Rebecca. "We will make sure everything is prepared by this weekend. When do you expect us to set up?" Chase had to think for a moment before answering, and, when he did, I felt much better about the situation we were in.

"I would like to have everything set up before Saturday at ten in the morning," he replied, his voice as polite as ever as he spoke. "Do you think that's going to be any trouble?" Seeing the look on Rebecca's face, I shook my head in response.

'I don't see any reason why it should be," I reassured him before turning to Rebecca. "Do you?" Rebecca thought for a moment as she looked from me to Chase and back again, seeming to contemplate who she wanted to go after first.

"Not at all," she replied, her voice restrained as she spoke. "I guess we better continue working if we're going to make that deadline." With that, Chase gave us a thumbs up.

"You guys won't have to worry about setting up by yourselves either on Saturday," he reassured us. "I'm going to have all the members I can spare come over to help load and transport everything on Saturday morning." Rebecca looked temporarily relieved as she turned to look at me.

"Sounds fair," she said as she gave me a gentle smile. "Unless you have any other concerns?" Immediately, I shook my head at her.

"Not at all," I said as I looked over at Chase. "We'll have everything finished by then." Once we had confirmed the plans, Chase left, and I turned to see Rebecca staring at me in shock and disbelief.

"I don't know about you, but I wish he would have told us before when the actual event was," she said as she made her way towards the counter where we had been working. "I can't be the only one deceived by the way he worded everything this morning." Not seeing any point in arguing, I shrugged as I made my way over to the counter following her example.

"You weren't," I reassured her. "I just don't see the harm in fighting when there's so much work to be done. Now, how do we want to split up the work so we can make the sandwiches?"

CHAPTER EIGHT

Richard

By the time Saturday finally rolled around, I was extremely anxious and wanted nothing more than to get the weekend over with. Chase had been stressing out everybody in the club, and we were starting to wonder if this was a bad idea after all. What made it even worse was the fact that all the women were too tired from their work in the kitchen by the time they got back to the compound.

I honestly wished that Chase had decided to host the motorcycle show for a few weeks from now. However, he insisted that we needed to do it as soon as humanly possible. By the time everything was set up Saturday morning, everybody looked exhausted from the last few days of hard work.

"Are you alright?" I asked Allison as I strode by the concession stands that she had set up with the help of the other women in the group. "You look like you haven't slept in the last couple days." She gave me a weary smile as she nodded her head in response.

"I feel like I haven't slept in the last couple days," she agreed reluctantly. "However, I can't complain. There's worse things that could have happened by now." I was about to ask her what she meant when Chase walked by to check on the concession stand.
