I mean, he wasn’t wrong, but I still didn’t want to go for another round, “still, put it away.”

A soft laugh passed through Kellan’s lips, making my heart stutter in response and just want to jump him. I quickly pushed those thoughts away, feeling slightly embarrassed as he swept me into his arms and carried me out into the bedroom, setting me down on the edge of the bed. Kellan has always been kind and considerate towards me ever since we got together, and it amazes me how nothing seems to piss him off. It’s as if he wants me to know that I am the only woman for him, and he wants to treat me like the queen that I am. I seriously don’t know what I did to deserve this since I had been such a jerk, but I am happy it worked out this way.

“What did you want to wear today?” Kellan asked me, rummaging through my closet.

Kellan and I don’t live together yet, that is the other thing. Although we have been together for a little over two months now, but it feels like it has been years. I never imagined that I would be feeling so strangely for someone in just a short amount of time, but Kellan has exceeded every expectation that I’ve had, and then some. It made me very happy that I decided to meet him that day and not run away like I easily could have done.

“Are you still going to meet up with them?” Kellan asked me softly, gently running a hand along my back as he handed me my clothes, “are you sure you don’t want me to come with you? I really don’t mind.”

It was very tempting to ask him to come with me, feeling like my nerves were on fire, but I couldn’t bring myself to burden him like that, “no, I’ll be okay. I think it is something that just need to happen.”

Kellan looked like he wanted to protest, I could see it in his eyes, but he ended up bowing his head slightly, “okay. But if you change your mind or if anything happens, you know how to contact me okay? Don’t hold back just because you’re afraid you’ll disturb me. I will drop everything to help you.”

I knew this was true, but I couldn’t just have him leaving his job because of me. I knew that he would be patiently waiting for me to text him if I ever needed anything, but I needed to remain strong here. There are just some things that you need to handle by yourself, and not rely on others to do it for you. Especially when it comes to things from my past that I regret, and hope that I can make amends for.

“I’ll be okay.” I told him, lightly running my fingers through his damp hair, “I need to do this.”

Kellan looked a little skeptical, but just nodded his head, “okay. Well, if you do change your mind, just let me know.”

Before I could say anything else to assure him, he rose to his feet and walked back into the bathroom with his own clothes, shutting the door. I sighed, rubbing my face slightly as I tried to calm myself down. I know it made Kellan feel a little bad that I didn’t ask him to come with me, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I had to face Lazarus on my own and bring everything else back together. That was the only way I knew I was fully going to be able to move on from the past.

It was time to face Lazarus once and for all.
