CHAPTER NINE

Jason

“Halfway through, little girl,” I say.

This spanking comes because three days in a row she’s neglected to look up the online degree programs to get an idea about what happens for her after her associate degree.

I don’t enjoy the spankings. I hate the sound of my little girl crying. Like always, when I get to the sixth spank, I really wish I just made it five instead of ten. My hand comes down and she yelps through her tears. I know the spanking is justified and I know she needs it. She’s blowing things off she submitted to me. I can’t just pretend to be a Daddy for the things I enjoy. I need to be a Daddy all the time. That doesn’t make spanks seven through ten any easier. I’m probably more glad when it’s over than she is, actually.

I gently stroke her hair as she weeps and looks at her ass cheeks. They’re bright red and I resolve, like always, to only do five spanks. I imagine I’ll forget when that time comes as well. When she finishes crying, she pulls back and kisses my cheek. Then, she gets off me and sits down on the rocker across from the couch. “Daddy,” she says, “I’m happy.”

I stare at her a little confused. This isn’t her first spanking and even if it were, that isn’t the response I might expect. Anger, maybe. Resolve. Resignation. Defiance. Submission. I mean, there are a million possible responses. “Okay, princess,” I say.

She winces as she adjusts herself and then she stands up and gets her clothes. She pulls on her panties and then her jeans, again wincing from lingering pain from the spanking. She sits back down and says, “I’m happy.”

I’m even more confused now. “I’m glad about that, little girl,” I say, “but I don’t understand why you’re telling me that right now.”

She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. I can tell she’s mustering up her courage. She finally says, “Because that is the last time I will submit to a spanking for not living up to goals I don’t have, Daddy.” I can tell she’s almost terrified that she got the words out.

“Excuse me?” I ask immediately and regret it as her fear grows. I quickly add, “I don’t mean I’m upset. I just don’t understand.”

She presses her lips together as though deciding and finally says, “You helped me become a part of the community. You helped me settle my life. I’m not a wild girl anymore and I’ve put down roots. Those were my goals. Everything else you have me working on now is your goal for me, not mine.”

“You submitted all those areas to me.”

She nods and she’s almost shaking now. “Yes. I did.”

“Princess,” I say, “you’re not making sense to me.”

She says, “If you want to spank me again for lying to you, I understand.” She musters up more courage and says, “I’m happy Daddy. I don’t need to do anymore to be happy. I don’t need to get a degree. I don’t need any life-changing projects. You helped me make my life what I want it to be. I’m going to get my AA and that’s it, and I don’t need you to help me with it because I’m almost done and it’s easy, but I’ll submit it to you if you want me to. Just until I have my AA. Just the things I already planned.”

I don’t answer right away. I’m not sure why I’m suddenly hearing this. I tentatively ask, “Are you having trouble in school? If you need my help with something—”

“No, Daddy,” she interrupts. She sighs and says, “Sorry for interrupting.”

“That’s okay, princess,” I say. “Just finish what you were going to say. It sounds like something I need to hear.”

She seems encouraged by that last part, so she takes a deep breath and says, “I’m doing great in school. If I stop trying today, I’ll still get my AA with a four-point-oh GPA. I’m not going to stop trying, I’m just saying the issue isn’t that this is difficult, the issue is that this isn’t something I want to do.”

“You mean you don’t know what you want to focus on in University?”

“No, Daddy,” she says. “I mean I don’t want a bachelor’s degree. I don’t want a promotion or a new career. I don’t want to accomplish some momentous thing. I just want to enjoy my life with my friends in the town that I love doing the work that I love. I’m happy where I am.”

She looks at me and I see her lower lip begin to tremble. “Are you going to leave me?”

My eyes widen in surprise. “Of course not! Why would I leave you?”

She sighs with relief, and I see tears welling in the corner of her eyes. “I just wasn’t sure how you would feel hearing me tell you I don’t want to grow anymore.”

I pull her close and hug her tightly. She sighs again and begins crying softly. Her tears are happy tears, but the knowledge that my little girl thought I was going to leave her because her goals differed from mine leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. I recall Hank’s warning that I was pushing her too hard without knowing what she really needed and now I wish I had listened.

I push her away and kiss her forehead and she smiles, “I love you, Daddy.”

“I love you too, princess,” I say.

“You look worried, Daddy,” she says. “What’s wrong?”

She was honest with me. Time for me to be honest with her.

“I’m just worried I won’t be a good Daddy for you if I can’t help you with the things you need.”

“You can help me, Daddy!” she says. “You just have to let me decide what I need help with instead of telling me what you think I need help with. You know what I mean?”

“Perfectly,” I say.

“Good,” she replies with a smile. “Now carry me to bed and take your clothes off. Your little girl needs some physical comfort.”

I laugh and pick her up. “I think I can handle that,” I say.
