“This isn’t about me being afraid of the water, Nav. I don’t want to leave you. Do you think I’ll ever find another man who’s as obsessed with going down on me as you are?”

The thought of anyone else licking her was a punch to the gut.

“I want to stay with you. Yes, I wasn’t really willing at first. But can you blame me for the misunderstanding? You said you wanted females for sex, Nav.”

I frowned, knowing that’s not what I said, but she continued to cover my mouth.

“Please give me a chance. I am willing now. Very, very willing.”

I froze, unsure I was understanding her correctly.

“No trading for anything. No tricks to keep you from looking for my family. Just me really wanting to have sex with you.” She studied me for a long moment, then slowly removed her hand. “I can’t stop you from getting rid of me. You’re too fast and strong for that. But I’m asking you to just think about it, okay? Me. You. Sweaty and naked in the living room as we make each other really, really happy.”

She stood on her toes and kissed my chin.

“What’s your favorite color?” she asked.

It took a moment to find my voice. I was still picturing us in the living room.

“Pink.”

Her lips curved into a soft smile.

“I think I have something pink you might enjoy. Come inside when you’re ready to see it.”

Fisting my hands at my sides, I watched her go inside.

Pink? Did she really mean—

“You are lucky, brother,” Belak mused, stepping around the side of the house. “I hope I can find a female who is willing as quickly as your Arena.”

“She is not willing,” I said.

He gave the house a curious glance as he joined me.

“I think she is. She already explained why she misunderstood you. How many times have we misunderstood females? She offered to let you enjoy her pink part. If she was not willing, she would have offered excuses instead.”

I shook my head. “Even if she offers herself, she is not truly willing. Her family came to the docks. I heard what she said to them. She said she will trade her body for food and safety.”

Belak sighed and crossed his arms.

“What will you do?”

“Return her to her family tomorrow. Tonight, you and I can go—“

The door opened suddenly.

“No, you’re not, Nav,” Arena said, looking upset. “You said you wouldn’t do anything I wasn’t willing to do. Well, I’m not willing to leave you. Are you going to force me?”

An uncomfortable knot formed in my stomach at the thought, and I shook my head.

“Good. Then I’m not going anywhere today, tomorrow, or any time in the near future. Now, are you going to come inside or stay out here with Belak?”

“He will come inside,” Belak said.

“Thank you, Belak.”

She turned around and went back in.
