Celine
C eline: Are you almost here?
Ezra: Is someone eager to see me?
Celine: Oh, shut up. I’m tired of sitting around waiting on your ass.
Ezra: So you’re ready to see my ass? I’ve been told I have a nice one.
Celine: OMG. I can’t even with you.
Ezra: 20 mins out. Had to stop for gas.
I’ve been sitting on the couch with Stella and Ozzy for over an hour, waiting for Ezra to get here. Wes
and Hazel are staying with her parents for the night. It would have been really cool if we could have
all been together tonight, but I get that Wes and Hazel have to see her family. Especially since they
have little Emerson. I’m sure she wants to see her grandparents.
I think it’s been almost a year since we’ve seen Ezra, and even then, he only stopped by for a night
while he was on his way to see his parents in Savannah.
“He said twenty minutes,” I tell Stella and Ozzy, who are cuddled up to each other on the other
side of the couch.
“Finally,” Stella says. Ozzy just nods.
We go back to watching our show, and before we know it, the doorbell is ringing over and over
like someone is standing out there just holding the button down.
The sharp sound startles us. I jump up because I’m closest to the door and run over to open it.
“Jesus, was one time not enough?” I ask as I fling the door open. “This house isn’t that damn big.”
Ezra is standing there in a white University of Florida T-shirt and black joggers. His dark hair is
cut short, like always, and he looks freshly shaven, again like always. I think he does it to keep his
boyish look.
“I just wanted to make sure you heard me.” He smiles his perfect smile, and when I say perfect, I
mean it. His teeth are so perfectly straight and white. I wish I had access to Ezra’s mom to bribe her
to send me pictures of Ezra with braces. I just want one thing to make fun of him for. I don’t feel like
that’s too much to ask.
His bright blue eyes take me in from my bare feet to the top of my bright red hair. His smile
doesn’t falter. If anything, it gets bigger, causing his dimples to pop.
He puts his bag down, which I can only assume holds his suit for the wedding. He grabs my hand
