We’re both laughing now. Her hand slaps into the water, and I turn my head just in time to miss

getting a spray of salt water to my face.

“You little shit.”

“Excuse me, sir. You just caveman carried me to the water. I think you can live with a little

splash.” She smiles, and all I can think about is how badly I want to kiss her. It’d be so easy. I’m

inches away from her face. All I would have to do is lean forward and press my lips to hers.

But there would be no coming back from that. I want everything with her, but she’s pushed me off

for months. She wants to be friends. I get it, but that doesn’t mean I don’t fucking hate it. It sucks

wanting someone so badly and knowing you’ll never have them.

Maybe moving away will be good for me. It’ll put some space between her and my heart. I’ll

admit, it’ll be nice to not feel my stomach knot with jealousy every time I see her talking to someone.

Celine makes her way out of the water towards where Stella is standing with Ozzy and Wes. As

soon as she gets to the sand, a group of guys approaches her like they were waiting for her to walk

away from me.

“Yo, Celine. There’s a party tonight at Jesse’s. You coming?” someone asks her. I watch the guy

run his eyes down her body. My fist clenches at my side. I want to punch him so badly, but I know it

won’t get me anywhere.

“Hell yeah, I’m coming.” I walk past the group back to my towel.

“Sweet. See you there.” I watch as Celine animatedly talks to Stella. Her hands are flying up

towards her face, and her smile keeps getting bigger until she’s in a full-on laugh. It’s fucking

beautiful to watch.

As if she can feel me staring, she looks at me and walks back over to the towels. Her hips a little

more than usual to stop her feet from sinking in the sand.

“You want to come to the party tonight?” she asks as she sits down next to me.

“Nah. I need to start packing.” I really don’t, but the thought of watching her flirt with people all

night makes me want to scratch out my eyeballs. It’s best if I distance myself.

“Boo. Don’t leave me.” She puts her head on my shoulder. “Who am I going to talk to when

you’re gone?”

“I don’t know if you’ve heard of this thing called a phone. I’ll make sure to show you how to use

it before I leave,” I tease.
