kitchen to make some dinner. I don’t have much food in the apartment, and I curse myself for not
picking up Taco Bell on the way home.
As soon as I open the fridge, there’s a knock on the door. Liam and Sadie look at me, and I look at
them. I shake my head, and Liam shrugs his shoulders. Looks like none of us was expecting anyone.
Sadie gets up to answer the door, so I go back to perusing my food options. I know I have some
eggs in here somewhere. All my stuff gets pushed to the back whenever Sadie goes to the grocery
store for herself. And it looks like she went today, damn it.
“Can I help you?” I hear Sadie ask the person at the door.
“I’m looking for Ezra Sanders.” I immediately stand up straight because I would recognize that

“Hmm, I think you have the wrong apartment,” Sadie says. I don’t know what the hell Sadie thinks
she’s doing, but I’m too stunned to say anything.
“Are you sure? This is the address he gave me.” Aw, shit. I guess I did give her my address,

I step out from behind the fridge and into the hallway, where I have a clear view of the door and
the person standing on the other side.

She’s all done up with her party makeup, as she calls it, and her fire-red hair is curled in big,
loose waves. She’s wearing jeans and a skintight tank top that I could probably rip off with one hand
if I tried. I need to stop thinking about taking her clothes off. It’s not helping anything.
She spots me, and her eyes go wide for just a millisecond, but I still see it. Sadie just shakes her
head while Celine and I stand there staring at each other.
“What are you doing here?” I finally ask.
Chapter 9
Celine
“C an I come in?” My question is aimed at Ezra, who is just staring at me, although I would take a
response from anyone. This girl who answered the door is glaring at me like I ruined her life
somehow, so I don’t think she’s going to let me in without Ezra’s approval.
I still can’t believe I convinced myself to get in the car and drive all the way down here after a
