Celine

I don’t think I take my foot off the gas pedal the entire way home. I need to talk to Stella, and I need

to talk to her now.

I drive right into my spot in our driveway, thanking my lucky stars that Stella’s car is here, so

she must be home.

I run into the house and yell her name, trying to find her.

“Yeah?” she answers from upstairs. I run the stairs and turn into her room. We almost run smack

into each other because she was coming to find me. “Are you ok?”

“Yeah, yeah,” I say, catching my breath. Ozzy is on her bed with a laptop in front of him. “Ezra

asked me to meet his family.”

“What?” she asks, wide-eyed. When he first asked, it was no big deal. He’s just taking me to a

party as his friend. Fine. Cool. Whatever. But as I drove away, I started really thinking about it. I’m

going to meet his family and all his family’s friends. His mother. I’m going to meet his mother. I’m

going to have to look his mother in the eye, knowing that I’m sleeping with her son.

“Oh my God,” I say. My hand comes up to my chest, and my breathing picks up. “I have to meet

his family. How did this happen?”

She ushers me into the room and sits me down in the chair at her desk, where it looks like she was

just working on editing some pictures. “I don’t know how this happened. Do you want to tell me?”

Her hand moves up and down my back while I explain how Ezra asked me to go to his Dad’s

party with him. As soon as I finish, I hear Ozzy chuckle from the corner he’s sitting in. It’s such an

unusual sound because Mr. Dark and Silent doesn’t laugh often. Both Stella and I shoot daggers at him

with our eyes. “What’s so funny?” I ask.

“You meeting Ezra’s family,” he says like it’s so damn obvious.

“Ozzy!” Stella shrieks. He just shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t understand. Why is this bad?”

Her boyfriend looks at her, “Uh, Ezra’s family is very… traditional. They have a lot of money.”
