“No way in hell I want to erase it, Sunshine. It’s gonna be on replay in my mind for the rest of my life.”

I cover my face with my hands. “Oh god. What about our families? What about Holden?”

Hawke sighs and finally brings one of the other blankets around his waist to cover himself. “Summer, calm down. No one has to know, ok? We were drinking. We had some fun. No one saw us. It can be our little secret if that makes you feel better.”

Deep breath in, deep breath out. A secret. I think I can do that. Even though I don’t have feelings for Holden anymore, I still don’t want to hurt him. And I’m pretty sure he’d be hurt if he found out Hawke and I slept together.

“A secret?” I ask hesitantly, still toying with the idea.

“Yeah, I’ll be your dirty little secret, Sunshine.” He smirks at me, which makes me giggle. “There’s that smile.”

“It can’t happen again, Hawke. It was a one-time thing.”

“You sure once will be enough for you?” He raises his eyebrows at me. Honestly, no. I don’t think one time was enough, but I have to be a responsible adult about this. I can blame the alcohol last night, but I wouldn’t be able to justify it a second time.

I roll my eyes at him. “Yes. One and done. It has to be.” Something like disappointment flashes through his eyes.

“We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. One time was not enough for me.”

Ignoring his comment, I sit on the edge of my bed, still wrapped in the sheet. “How am I supposed to face your mother today?”

His brows crinkle together in confusion. “What do you mean?”

“I’ve slept with both of her sons!”

Hawke has the audacity to laugh. “Yeah, good luck with that. Just don’t tell her who was better.” He winks at me, assuming that he would win in any competition. There is no way I’m comparing the two. Nope. Not gonna do it.

“Alright.” He slides out of bed and drops the blanket, giving me an unhindered view of his perfect ass. “I’m going to get you a coffee and some breakfast while you shower. You fell asleep before you could wash up last night.” He grabs a pair of discarded shorts from his bag and then looks at me. “You probably still have some of my cum on your stomach.”

I reach for the nearest pillow and chuck it at his face. He laughs as he swats it away.

He grabs a T-shirt and a room key and walks out the door.

I flop back on the bed. I can’t believe I slept with Hawke. The weird thing is, I don’t regret it. Sure, I’m shocked that I let my guard down enough to let it happen, but Hawke made me feel good last night. Probably the best sex I’ve ever had. I trusted him with my body, and he came through. I can’t regret that, right?

After a quick shower and the coffee and breakfast Hawke brought me, I make my way through the resort to find the spa. I follow the signs pointing me in the right direction until I’m about to turn the last corner and stop when I hear voices.

“She should be here any second, I’m sure,” my mom says.

“It’s no problem. I hope she’s been ok staying in the same room as Hawke.” Susan has always worried about me, and it makes me smile.

“She hasn’t mentioned anything about it to me.” Like I would complain to my mom about how my roommate is too hot and distracting me. For the most part, Hawke has actually been a great roommate.

“Hawke has always had a soft spot for Summer,” Susan adds. “He was so hurt when Holden and Summer started dating.” Wait, what? Hawke was hurt? Does that mean he really liked me back then?

“Oh, I know. I saw the way Hawke would look at her. It broke my heart to see him like that.” My mom knew Hawke liked me? What is happening here? Why didn’t anyone tell me?

“It was hard as a mom to see one of my boys so happy and one of them so upset.”

“I can’t imagine,” my mom muses. I can picture her shaking her head. “I don’t think Summer ever had any idea of Hawke’s feelings, which is probably a good thing. At least now they can be friends.”

You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted. Hawke said that last night, didn’t he?

“Yes,” Susan responds. “Although it’s a shame we won’t be connecting our families. I really thought Holden and Summer would be together forever.”

My mom laughs. “You always did want that wedding.”
