I get it, but this means someone out there is waiting because you are sweet and kind, and people who aren’t me find you sexy and hot.

The big boss man ain’t too shabby.

Who?

The guy at lunch the other day. Serious Daddy energy.

I don’t need a Daddy.

Ummm, ya do, but we can agree to disagree.

Thanks?

You’re welcome. You’re better off without him.

Wait a sec— Where are you staying? Are you finally moving in with me? Please say yes.

I’m at my mom’s house for a few days.

Stay with me! With us!

Sorry, no. I love you, but you’re, ummm, NOISY.

That’s ’cause Daddy gives it good.

Hard pass on listening to that.

I’ll be fine at my mom’s for a couple of days until I find an apartment. It’ll be fine.

You sure?

Yeah, I’m sure. I’ll tell the group chat soon, but I need a little space first.

You know I love you and want you to be happy.

I know.

No chance of going back?

He’s already moved on.

GRRRRRR. I’m sorry he dumped you, but I’m happy you’re free of that no-good swamp goblin.

I’ll get there too. But not yet.

TTYL, gotta get inside.

I love you.

Love you too.

CHAPTER FOUR

EMIL

I wasn’t quite ready to burn the world down, but violence was possibly on the table. John and his family had insisted on setting up this meeting for reasons I didn’t fucking know. The shares had already been purchased. They were bought at a discount because his company was in trouble, so the idea that this dinner would somehow wring more funds out of me was ridiculous. It was a waste of time. I wasn’t paying them shit.

John had the server add another chair to the table. When I asked who it was for, he wouldn’t answer. He only smirked and sat back in his chair like the smug little piece of shit he was. If this asshole ruined Quill, one of my favorite restaurants, I was going to fantasize about doing unspeakable things with his body and burying it under the office. Unfortunately, it was only a fantasy because I wasn’t meant for jail.
