Then he’s naked in front of me, gilded by the moonlight through my curtains. He looks like a fantasy, like what I used to dream about when I touched myself in this bed, before I even knew what this could feel like.

“When we get back home,” Luke says, “I’m going to fuck you in the biggest bed I can find. We’re going to sprawl out and take all the space we fucking want.”

“Promises, promises.”

“Wildflower.” His voice drops into the register that turns my knees to water. “When have I ever not delivered?”

My chest warms. I like the idea of home. The reminder that Luke and I have a world outside this ranch, outside this room.

Luke crawls over me, fitting his cock against my entrance. He meets my gaze, and I expect him to ask me if I’m ready. If I still need more time.

Instead, he just presses halfway inside me. The way my muscles stretch around him still shocks me, despite the fact that he was here only days ago. He kisses my gasp away, tongue hot against mine, hands cradling my face like I’m something he could break if he’s not careful.

He takes his time from there, rocking slowly into me, reigniting the heat lingering under my skin. Our foreheads press together, and we meet each other’s eyes as he moves inside me. There’s no rush now. No clock, no brothers to interrupt, no breakup date on the calendar.

We have all the time in the world.

I can feel every ridge and vein of him as he thrusts inside me. When he reaches down to stroke my clit, it’s with the same luxurious patience. It’s like stepping into a warm bath, the water soaking into your skin until your aches disappear and you feel weightless. That’s how my second orgasm builds.

Luke never looks away as he makes me feel every single thing he said to me before, when the napkin lay in pieces on the floor.

I don’t have to warn him this time before I come. He smiles as my legs shake, and I know he sees it coming. My pussy squeezes him tight as waves of pleasure thrum through my body.

Seconds later, a stuttered groan tumbles from his lips, and he pulls out with a hiss, releasing on my stomach. Luke rasps out my name as he comes like a promise, and I want to hold the sound of it in my heart.

He falls on his back next to me, our legs still tangled together. We’re both breathing hard, faces flushed, grinning at each other like idiots. Then, he starts chuckling as I burst out into giggles, in one of those moments where we’re both thinking the same thing.

We just had amazing, mind-bending, body-melting sex. And tomorrow, maybe even tonight, we’re going to do it again. It’s weirdly funny that we thought we’d never get a chance to touch each other like this again, and instead, we’re getting endless chances at it. Maybe even a lifetime’s worth.

With a final chuckle, Luke presses a kiss to my forehead. “I’m going to run you a bath, wildflower.”

I stretch into the sheets as he gets out of bed, my eyes moving shamelessly over his bare back. “You should be careful, Luke. I could get used to this kind of treatment.”

He stops in the doorway, looking at me with something steady and sure in his eyes. “I mean for you to.”

He shoots me a grin that makes me feel warm everywhere. I sag into the comforters, listening as he starts the running water.

The ranch is quiet. The wedding is done. My best friend is married to the man she loves, and my friends are settled into their happy endings across the property. Mom is sleeping downstairs, safe and cared for. And I’m lying in my childhood bed, listening to the man I’ve loved since I was ten years old hum to himself as he runs me a bath.

It all makes me so happy and so proud of everything I’ve built for myself that the feeling barely fits inside my chest.

At my lowest point in this city, I was down to $817.32 and a spreadsheet full of maybes. Now I have a business, a sister in everything but blood, a family twice the size it was, and a future that doesn’t fit on any spreadsheet at all. Turns out the math was never about the money.

Then, a crash outside has me sitting up.

Wrapping a throw blanket around me, I move to the window before I’ve really thought about it, my heart hammering. Did someone get hurt? Maybe one of our animals got out?

I’m almost relieved to see Reed down in the yard. He’s hushing a girl I don’t recognize. He has one hand on her arm, guiding her quickly and quietly past the main house toward the fields. The girl’s laughing and trying not to, while Reed shushes her theatrically.

Luke appears in the bathroom doorway, a towel wrapped around his waist. “What was that noise?”

I hold a finger to my mouth, shushing him. He crosses to the window and looks out over my shoulder.

“Oh my god, is that Reed?” Luke asks. “Guess he closed the deal with Beau’s cousin. Beau’s going to be pissed.”

My stomach drops as I recognize the girl he’s with. “That’s not Beau’s cousin. That’s bad news.”

Luke frowns. “Why’s that?”

“I went to high school with her. She’s the sheriff’s daughter.” I groan. “Oh my god. Wade is going to lose his mind.”

“Why? Are she and Wade exes or something?”

“Even that would be better. The sheriff has hated our family for years.”

“How could anyone hate your family?” Luke asks.

“Some land dispute that happened when I was a kid. I don’t know the details. All I know is Sheriff Callahan is still holding a grudge about it. Reed knows it. So what the hell is he doing?”

Luke wraps his arm around my shoulders. “Don’t worry about it. Your brothers are big boys, and what they get up to is none of our business.”

I let Luke coax me away from the window and toward the bath. Still, I glance back at the window one more time. In the dark, I can just make out two figures disappearing into the tall grass at the edge of the field.

You have no idea what you’re starting, Reed.

Oh, well. The bath is warm and Luke’s naked and reaching for me. Whatever chaos my brother is about to unleash on himself, it can wait until morning…

The End.
