No matter the shit swirling around us.
EPILOGUE
GLACIER
Iended the call with Banshee. It wasn’t good news, but we hadn’t expected it to be.
I fired off a message to the entire club.
Me: Church in ten minutes. Mandatory. Prospects included. Close businesses if you have to.
I didn’t wait for a response. Leaving my office, I walked to where we held church, unlocked the doors, and waited at the head of the table.
They came. One by one. Trickling in. None of the usual shit-talking, no pushing or shoving. They knew better. I didn’t call mandatory Church unless it was urgent.
When everyone was seated, I leaned forward, bracing my hands on the table.
“You all know about the new group of dirty cops and dishonourably charged men who’ve banded together."
A round of nods and low murmurs moved through the room.
“I just got off a call with Banshee. This group is building territory, starting with small towns, using them to funnel drugs over the border.” I let the news sink in. “They’ve got a goal. Eliminate anything and anyone standing in their way. They’re going to do this using dirty contacts within various government agencies. It’s not just us they’re pushing; it's our allies too.”
The silence in Church was deafening. This was bad. We all knew it.
“What’s the plan, Pres?”
I leaned back in my chair, steepling my fingers beneath my chin as I met each man’s gaze, making sure they understood exactly how serious I was when I spoke.
“Honestly? I’d like to kill and bury any fucker who comes our way.”
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Lawless shrugged.
“Agreed. Knock ‘em off before they start causing trouble,” River said with a shit-eating grin. “They’ll learn real quick that if they come to Bitterthorn, they won’t be leaving.”
“Need intel first,” Lurch pointed out, a faint smirk pulling at his mouth.
I gave a short nod. “Agreed. But when we get it, they die. I’m not fucking around with this. As far as I’m concerned, we’ll be doing society a favour. We keep our town clean. We’ve got ways to make them disappear, and that’s what we’ll do.”
An idea formed, and I turned to Midnight. “How’s our money looking?”
He frowned. “Looks good, Pres. Why?”
“Find out if the salvage yard’s for sale. The Parkers are getting on in years. If it’s not, let me know. I’ll go see them myself. Work out a deal. We’ll need a way to get rid of vehicles.”
“Gotcha, Pres.” He nodded, making a note in his book.
I turned back to the brothers. “Has anyone got a problem with that?”
“No, Pres.”
“Okay. So we agree.” I scanned the room one last time. “We eliminate anyone who comes into our town and thinks they can take it over...”
“Aye,” came the chorus.
“Starting with that fucker, Agent Reynolds,” Lawless growled, looking a little feral.
I raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
