“If it goes badly, I call you.”
“You call me if it goes well too.”
I smiled. “You want a celebration call?”
“I want the first call.”
Warmth moved through my chest. “Okay.”
Ryan leaned closer. “And you don’t go quiet on me.”
“I know.”
“You say that like I’m nagging.”
“You are nagging.”
“Charm.”
I laughed softly. “I won’t go quiet.”
“If he pisses you off?”
“I call.”
“If your mother makes you cry?”
“I call.”
“If you decide you’re completely fine and don’t need anybody?”
I opened my mouth, and his eyes narrowed before I could answer.
With a sigh, I surrendered. “I call my extremely demanding boyfriend.”
“Good.”
“You’re enjoying that word.”
“You made me wait four years to hear it.”
“I didn’t know we were negotiating for four years.”
“I was.”
“You might’ve mentioned that.”
“I made it pretty fucking obvious.”
“You flirt with everyone.”
“I didn’t teach everyone Spanish, give them access to my apartment, or spend four years trying to keep my hands off them.”
The heat in his eyes made my stomach tighten. “You haven’t given me access to your apartment yet.”
His gaze flicked toward the small bowl beside the front door before returning to me. “We’ll get to that.”
I narrowed my eyes. “That sounded suspicious.”
