“Nah, but you know Daddy always comes home. Call me soon as you land, okay?”

She hugged her husband, as she said something to him, while he kissed her nose. They went to the side while Mina remained.

“You’re worried about Blair.”

“I am.”

Mina walked closer to me. “She’s in that range more than me and Capri combined. Feels like she has something to prove and I don’t blame her for feeling that way. Quasim takes her, or she goes alone. Even got the razor down.” Mina laughed to herself.

“This girl was ducking in the back of cars, Mina.”

“And now she’s airing them out. Blair is Queen. A Queen isn’t crowned the moment the world sees her. Blair was crowned the moment she finally saw herself, and baby, she has.”

I smiled, suddenly becoming emotional. “I worry about her, you know?”

Mina smiled at me proudly. “I don’t. She’s Queen, and when I was in her position, every God, including my King held me down. That’s my daughter, and whether fuck heads believe it or not, she’s ready, and she’s Queen Inferno.”

Blair came out at the same time we were talking about her. “There’s the Queen.”

I watched my best friend through a different lens this time. She had always been Blair, my friend. The one I could call, and she would come running. The person who always knew when something was wrong with either me or Capri. Her crown wasn’t handed to her because she married Quasim. That crown had thorns and vines that grew from every wound she carried, every scar she wore, and all the pain she endured. It rested on her head perfectly, never meant for another Queen. She healed herself, and helped a grieving man learn to love again, while demanding what she required.

When she finally lifted her head through the flames, destiny recognized its Queen: Blair Inferno.

“Ready, Mina?”

Mina looked at her phone. “Capri just finished up talking to the cops. You know your husband is going to have a fit, right?”

“He’ll live.” She laughed and hugged me. “Call me as soon as you guys land, alright?”

Capone and Erin were having their moment while Jean was helping the kids up the steps. “I will.”

Blair walked over towards her truck, while Mina headed towards her car. Mina waited until Blair whipped around and got in front before she pulled off behind her. Capone and Cappadonna finished their goodbyes, got into their whips, and pulled behind them. As they were leaving, I saw the cars entering and heading over toward Don’s jet.

I took a deep breath and headed back up the steps knowing that this was going to be a long flight.

“The island is beautiful, and we have a ton of villas on it.” I overheard Stevie talking to Kobe about the island and I looked at the pilot. Even he knew this was going to be a long ass flight.

“Want some scotch?” I asked.

His cheeks turned red, as Jean choked on her water. “Zoya!”

I looked down at my phone, and saw Goo’s text message.

Goo: Sharon is going to fly with Navy and her people.

Me: Remember what I said.

Goo: Think I’m not gonna see my seed come into the world. Fuck you mean.

I smiled and put my phone on airplane mode.

My dreams were haunting me.

The only time my mind was silenced was when I was with Goo. Whenever we got into bed, I buried myself in his arms, as he kissed the top of my head and I fell asleep. My mind was silenced and my dreams were pleasant.

It was probably because he was such a good man. The kind of energy that Goo radiated you couldn’t buy that in a store. Everything about him was good, and it pained me that people saw something different.

One look at his rap sheet, and someone would be quick to judge. Wonder why a high-powered defense attorney would lower her standards to be with a criminal. Little did they know, Goo was better than me. I didn’t deserve him, but he still showed up and showed me that maybe I did deserve a love like the one he wanted to give me.
