“Right there,” Capone replied, as he sped around the other side on Quasim’s bike.
“I’mma kill that nigga if he dies.”
“How the… never mind,” Cappadonna replied.
Capo nearly turned the chair around with the way he doubled back as he looked out the window. “Why she slowing the fuck down?”
He was worried about his sister, which was understandable.
“Want me to turn this shit around?” I questioned, already giving Duke the look. He would if I told him to.
I was an older brother, so I understood how it felt to be worried. Neither Kora nor Zoya were out here doing shit like this, so I could only imagine his feelings were amplified.
“Nah, chill. Capo, she got this shit. Go ahead, Baby Doll,” he spoke more to himself, as we were all looking at the camera that showed the back of the truck, since there wasn’t a back window.
Her husband peeped and slowed down until he was a little bit in front of her. The trucks were behind us. Luci smirked and then he opened up that flame thrower, sending flames right at all the trucks that were coming their way.
The parked cars were caught on fire along with the main trucks that needed to be hit. Soon as he finished, he said something to her and she sped down the block, bypassing us with her husband right behind her.
The sound of helicopters could be heard along with sirens. “We might have to abandon this big shit if those choppers get close enough,” Capone said.
“Nah. Just wait on it,” Cappadonna told his brother, because he knew what was about to go down.
Snatching my phone from the middle console, I hit a button. “Bruster!” I barked into the phone.
“Wheels up if I’m not there, Mens.”
“Fuck no!”
“Why the fuck you think I had my brothers go with you… wheels the fuck up. I’m coming right behind you.”
This nigga was always playing fucking Hercules and shit.
Capone switched the screen to the roof’s camera. “That chopper close… shit above us.”
The trucks that Luci had sprayed were no longer an issue, it was the sirens and the chopper that was above us. We all sped up, as we separated, each dipping down different blocks.
“Five, four, three,” Cappadonna started counting.
“Wheels up,” Bruster said before he hung up.
Goon continued on the side of the Rez on the bike, following close by as Duke maneuvered this big shit further away.
“Two, one… Boom.”
I hit the screen to show the cameras on the top of the truck. The entire block shook, causing Goon to almost lose his balance. Capone looked at the screen with wide eyes. The explosion was from above.
The fire swallowed the helicopter’s side. I felt like a kid who had just gotten money from the tooth fairy after ripping my tooth out. The helicopter remained in the sky, burning, dipping as the blades fought to keep it above so it could land.
“Boom,” I mouthed, and that second hit sent it spiraling. The impact shook the block, windows busted and the sound of the car alarms were the soundtrack to this mayhem.
As Duke pushed forward down each block, we watched people running for their lives. Cars were trying to get as far away from what was going on as possible. We turned onto South Street, and as we drove under the underpass, merging onto the FDR, we watched the helicopter nose dive into the water behind one of the helicopter tour companies.
How ironic.
The thick black smoke lingered through the sky. The chopper waffled through the air before the pilot made it over to the water to avoid crashing into a building.
How noble.
