“Hey, Zane. When the Millers leave, I’m going to have to send you home early, sorry. I know you need the hours, but the weather really fucked us today, so no one’s coming in.”
My first thought is how I can’t wait to run home to Mason, but I shouldn’t want that. I stand up and shrug. “Can’t say I’m surprised. I’ll just go get some shit done at the brewery, though. Call me if dinner picks up and you need me again.”
She looks relieved. “For sure. Thanks.”
The Millers leave pretty quickly, and I reluctantly head over to the brewery, fully expecting both Grant and Eric to be there, so I’m shocked when it’s empty.
Zane
Where are you guys? I thought you’d be working. Carol cut me early so I figured I’d work here for a bit in case they need help later.
Grant
Oh shit, that would be great! We got the hard liquor shipment in this morning but then I had to leave to get ready for a date tonight. You could set up the bar!
Eric
I’m waiting for my dentist appointment that should have been half an hour ago.
Eric
But I have a date tonight too.
Grant
How’s your mystery girlfriend we’re pretending doesn’t exist, Zane?
Grant
Tonight’s my second date with Georgia, she’s great. Maybe we can double soon
Zane
Don’t have a girlfriend. I’ll set up the bar.
Eric
My date’s casual too. Don’t let Mr. Romance convince you we all need to find relationships now that the brewery is opening
Grant
I just think it would be nice if we all had dates for the opening party!
Eric
We’ll be working. We don’t need dates.
Grant
You’re no fun :(
Grant
Thanks about the bar Zane!
Zane
No problem
