“Wes is... he’s in his underwear. It’s going to be tricky getting him through town unnoticed.”

I heard Knox snort and chuckle.

“Yeah,” Marcus replied. “You’re going to have to figure something out because that’s going to attract some serious attention for sure.”

“I’ll figure it out. Stay safe.”

“Roger that.”

I sucked my lip between my teeth and surveyed our surroundings. I caught a glimpse of the body of the man I’d shot from the window in a crumpled heap where we’d descended.

“Stay with me.” I leveled Wes with a serious stare.

“Where are we—”

I didn’t give him a chance to finish. Crouching down, I slinked along the edge of the building to the body, then quickly went to work removing his pants. Wes grimaced while he helped but held it together until we got the pants free. Next, we moved for his shirt, but it was strapped in under his body armor.

“Shit,” I whispered as I started to work open the straps, but voices growing nearer forced me to abandon my attempt.

“Come on!” I whispered, then hurried over the construction barriers surrounding the property. Once we got far enough away, I pressed up around the corner of another old building.

“Here. Put these on. You’ll still turn some heads in the city not wearing a shirt, but it’s better than running around Moscow in your underwear. We’ll get you a shirt as soon as we can.”

Wes grabbed the pants and slid them on while I unstrapped the weapons from my body and stashed them in my backpack. Walking through Moscow holding an assault rifle would attract even more attention than my scantily clad accomplice.

“You ready?” I zipped up the backpack and slid it over my shoulder.

He held his breath while he snapped the buttons. “These are about two sizes too small.”

I glanced down at him and swallowed my internal groan. Even the pants did nothing to hide his impressive physique... and if anything, the tight crotch only emphasized the fact that Wes was all man now.

“They’ll have to work.” I forced my eyes back up to his face. “Let’s move.”

With a smile that would have wobbled the knees of a lesser woman, and maybe even mine, he whispered, “I’m right behind you.”

The simple phrase pushed a naughty thought into my mind that I’d never imagined I’d have about Wes. But in my head, he was behind me all right.

Oof. This is going to be an interesting day.

CHAPTER FOUR

Wesley

––––––––

I stuck to Piper like glue as we entered the busy city. My shirtless appearance captured a few strange looks as we made our way toward the Metro, looking for cabs to hail as we moved.

A group of teenagers walked toward us, the girls giggling as they raked their gazes over my torso.

“Hot,” one said in Russian, then sucked her lip between her teeth.

If I didn’t know better, I’d have thought I saw a little possessive glare flash through Piper’s eyes.

“Hey,” she said in perfect Russian to one of the young men. She reached into her pocket and pulled out some rubles. “Give you these for your t-shirt?”

“Okay!” he agreed, quickly yanking his shirt over his head.

Piper exchanged the money for the t-shirt, then tossed it to me. “Put it on. We need to blend in.”
