“I could cut the sexual tension between you two with a butter knife.”

I didn’t argue back, instead standing quietly beside him.

“Well? What’s happening? Are you two gonna...” He waggled his eyebrows, and I slapped him on the shoulder.

“Stop.”

“Well, I think you should. I mean, hellloooo look at him. And when’s the last time you got any action? You gotta treat yourself to a little man fun every now and again, Jenna. You don’t want that thing to like, shrivel up or do whatever it does.” He made a sour face and waved a hand at my crotch.

“Eew!” I slapped him again. “That doesn’t happen. Gross.”

“I’m just saying,” he paused and jutted a chin to Carter, “I bet that man could curl your toes.”

Oh, he’d curled my toes alright, I thought while I stared at him.

“I see that look in your eye.” Cameron bumped me with a shoulder. “You want a piece of that man.”

“I don’t,” I lied.

Cameron tipped his head at me, then glanced over at Carter. His mouth formed an “O.” “You did it already, didn’t you, you little harlot!”

“I didn’t!” I argued back, but I’d never been much good at lying.

Cameron’s grin grew as he nodded his head. “When? Last night? Oh my God, while you were paddleboarding?”

“No! Not paddleboarding. After. At my place.”

He squealed, and I motioned for him to shut up.

“If you two already got together, then what’s up with all the tension today?”

“Because it was a mistake, and one I’m not planning on making again.”

“Why not? If you ask me, that’s some grade-A man meat over there. He’s smart, funny, successful, sexy.” He bit his fist as he flicked a look back to Carter.

“And he lives in New York.”

Cameron’s lips pressed together as he sighed. “Yeah. That is a bit of a bump you two would need to get over.”

“It’s not a bump. It’s a mountain. And it’s just easier if we put an end to this thing before it gets all complicated and messy. I’m sure I’ll find another guy eventually and one that lives nearby.” I said the words, but in my heart, I didn’t believe them. After a decade, I’d still never come close to meeting anyone that made me feel like Carter.

Carter swung and sent his ball flying down the huge hill to the fairway at the bottom. His muscles bulged as he gripped his club, holding it over his back. Muscles I’d been running my hands over last night.

I groaned.

“Just don’t write it off without really thinking it through.” Cameron slung an arm over my shoulder and guided me over to the center of the tee box. He leaned in and whispered, “I think you two should give it a try.”

I peered up at Carter and caught his intense stare. I felt naked again beneath his gaze, and the devil on my shoulder whispered that it would be fun to get naked with him again in real life. The angel told me to keep my clothes on.

With a groan, I turned my focus back to golf and tried to ignore the man behind me driving me mad with desire.

Everyone cheered as the fireworks popped and exploded over our heads on the beach at the Bronson’s mansion. Cameron sat at my side with his arm around his boyfriend, Louie.

“They are doing an amazing job,” Cameron said to me. “We really need to hire these guys more often.”

“Yeah. They are really good,” I agreed.
