“Yeah. I am.” As she smiled, our electric connection crackled between us. “The luckiest.”

“Well, we won’t keep you lovebirds tied up. I know Valentina and Eric are dying to talk to you. They’re right over there.” Lydia pointed across the room.

“And Jenna, thank you again for another incredible event. You truly are a wonder.” Aunt Tilly pulled her in for a hug. “You’re like family, you know.”

“I know.” Jenna hugged her back. “And I couldn’t be more grateful for it.”

A server came past with a tray of mimosas, and the two women spun around and hurried after.

“Wait! We’ll take two!” Aunt Tilly called as she flagged her down.

“Well, that wasn’t as bad as I expected.” I watched the two women grab their mimosas before giving us one last wave.

“Not bad at all. I thought we’d be stuck for hours rehashing every last detail of our reunion. But I’m sure they’ll want to hear the story over and over again every time we see them so they can tell anyone within earshot that this is all their doing.” Jenna laughed.

“I’m just glad I get to be here with you to do it. Our new life together in Door County.” Sighing, I pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “I can’t wait until I’m here permanently. If all goes as planned, you’ll be stuck with me by fall.”

“I can’t wait either.”

Eric and Valentina spun around from the side conversation they’d been having with another guest. When they saw me with Jenna, they both smiled and waved us over.

“Hell, yeah,” Eric said when we arrived. “I’m so glad you two worked it out. I knew you would.”

“This is so great to see, you guys,” Valentina agreed. “I know Camilla is my friend, and I hope that doesn’t affect our friendship here together.”

“Of course not,” Jenna answered.

“But I am hella pissed that no one—” she paused and glared over at Eric, “—told me this was going on!”

“Bro code, baby.” Eric shrugged. “Carter didn’t want me spilling the beans.”

“Well, now that we’re married, no more secrets! What you know, I know. Husband and wife vault. That’s the rule.”

He sucked the air through his teeth and looked at Carter. “Sorry. I think Bro Code just went buh-bye.”

Jenna tipped her head. “It’s true though. The husband-and-wife vault is a very important part of the marriage. All the best marriages have complete transparency.”

Eric put a hand on my shoulder. “Are you making a note of this, Carter? Anything you tell me, I have to tell Valentina, so keep that in mind before you open your mouth.”

I furrowed my brow. “Hey, but doesn’t Bro Code supersede husband-and-wife vault? I mean, us guys still gotta have our secrets. A little mystery, ya know?”

Jenna pinched her lips. “Well, that’s a good point.”

Eric nodded. “Okay, then if you call Bro Code, I won’t tell Valentina. You hear that, Valentina? I’m only honoring my friendship.”

She faked an eye roll and then laughed. “Okay, fine. But we’ll be up here a lot spending time with Jenna and Carter, so Jenna and I also get our own... Ho Code.”

“Ho Code?” Jenna and I echoed.

Valentina grimaced then shook her head. “Okay. Not Ho Code. How about Sister Statute.”

“I like that!” Jenna laughed. “The Sister Statute. Now we can have our own little secrets while the boys have theirs.”

They slapped hands, and it warmed me straight to my core that my best friend and his girl were going to be in our lives. They may live in New York, but I knew they’d visit often, and I couldn’t wait to spend more time in this beautiful place with all the people I loved.

The place I would now call home.

“We’d better keep mingling,” Valentina said after another guest waved at her. “But I’m really happy for you two. You’re a beautiful couple.”
