Was it sweet that Sebastian liked being called Sir outside of a scene? Or maybe that Neil’s willingness to slip into the role was turning the everyday moments into something more?

Sebastian continued watching the boy climb, taking up the slack quickly and enjoying the view. Neil was on the plumper side, the fleshy fullness of his ass perfectly framed by the leg straps. That was giving Sebastian all kinds of ideas.

Neil hit the harder part of the course where the rock went a bit more vertical and the holds were scarce. Sebastian could see three different ways he could navigate it, but he held back to give Neil the chance.

After a very, very long pause, Neil chose the best one, a set of holds that would be a bit harder here, but easier in a moment. Sebastian called up to him. “Nicely done, boy!”

Neil laughed, sounded free and happy. “I think I might not suck at this!”

“Not at all. Most new climbers reposition their feet a lot more, but you’re thinking it through. That’s good!”

“I thought I was just slow!”

It was true, he was moving slowly. But given his inexperience and the shoes he was wearing, his simple footwork was relatively precise. “It’s not a race,” Sebastian reminded him. “You’re almost to the top.”

Neil looked up, clearly surprised. Within a couple of minutes, he’d reached the ledge that marked the end of the easier paths.

“You did it!” Sebastian crowed when Neil was looking over the ridge.

“I know! Now what?”

Sebastian took up all the slack in the rope. This was often the hardest part for new climbers, and Sebastian realized he should have had Neil try it out when he was only a few feet from the ground. Too late now, though. “Sit back in the harness and feel how I’m supporting you. You’re going to let go with your hands, lean back, and just keep your feet lightly on the wall, hips width apart.”

Neil clung to the rock for long enough that Sebastian debated repeating the commands. “You OK, boy?”

There was another long pause.

Jamie must have been watching too, because he shouted out, “Daddy won’t let you fall!”

That must have made some difference, because Neil finally pulled back his hands, leaning into the harness. “I’m OK, Sir.”

“Ready to lower?”

“Yes, Sir!”

Sebastian exchanged a smile with Jamie. It wasn’t quite the rock climbing lingo, but it was much sweeter.

Sebastian flipped the lock on the grigri and carefully lowered Neil to the ground, watching as he carefully walked down the surface on his toes.

The moment he reached the ground, he threw his arms around Sebastian, and then Jamie who’d stepped up behind him. “I did it, Sir! I actually did it, Jamie!” He was flushed and excited, the enthusiasm taking a decade off his appearance.

“You did!” Jamie squealed. “I knew you could.”

“And going down was fun. It was like… not quite flying. Being weightless and walking on the moon or something.”

Neil was grinning, and Sebastian had to pull him into his arms again. “Gonna kiss you now, boy,” he warned him.

He’d meant to make their first kiss something sexy, building up the anticipation all day to savor it when he had the boy alone somewhere with Jamie. But nothing about Neil seemed to fit into the defined boxes.

“Yes, Sir,” Neil breathed softly, face tilted toward him and eyes fluttering shut.

Sebastian pressed lips together, drinking in all of Neil’s heady success and enthusiasm. He licked along the seam and Neil opened immediately, tangling their tongues together but letting Sebastian take the lead. He was so soft. So warm and needy, whimpering into Sebastian’s mouth. The more Sebastian’s grip tightened, the more Neil went limp and pliant in his arms. Fuck, did Sebastian want the boy right now.

Reluctantly, he pulled back, then leaned in for one more quick taste, just a brush, because he couldn’t get enough.

“Wow,” Neil whispered, opening his eyes.

Yeah, that’s about how Sebastian was feeling right now. Jamie came up along his side and Sebastian pulled him against them. Holding both of his boys close in his favorite place on earth felt like everything good was coming together all at once.
