Yeah?
Yeah. He finally talked to me. Or maybe I finally listened. They yawned again, looking forlornly at their cookie.
Dustin wondered if they were feeling too tired or too full to eat it. He was also aching to hear about their conversation with Zhong and wondering if Ash was ready to take their relationship in a new direction. But he didn’t like the dark circles under their eyes. You should get some sleep. We’re going to be driving for almost four more hours.
Ash shook their head, dark curls bouncing. Not sleepy.
That was a response Dustin knew well. Yes you are. Put your seat back.
Ash pouted, but they did it anyway. I didn’t eat my cookie yet.
Dustin stroked their knee, feeling tender and warm. I’ll keep it safe for you. You can have it when you wake up for a midnight snack.
OK, Daddy Dustin.
His heart felt like it was overflowing. Maybe the speed of the next steps didn’t really matter.
Ash curled up into a little ball, their feet tucked up onto the seat and their body turned sideways to face him.
Do you want a blanket? There’s a sleeping bag right there.
Ash nodded sleepily, their cheek mashed into the cushion.
Dustin chuckled. He’d meant for them to get it, but it wasn’t hard to reach behind their seat and then shake it over them until it slipped out of the elastic strap holding it closed. They pulled it up to their shoulders.
Their eyes blinked closed. Since it was a long, straight stretch of highway, Dustin pulled out his phone and snapped a picture. The last golden rays of the sun set off their graceful features and delicate eyelashes.
He sent it to the group chat and then pulled up some music for the long drive.
When they arrived at the hotel, Dustin’s eyes were bleary and his leg ached from sitting in one position for so long. Ash woke up about half an hour before they got there and offered to drive, but by that point they were so close he was just glad for the company so he could stay awake.
He had Ash text to say they were close, and pulled into the parking lot to the sound of crickets and the quiet rush of cars on the highway. He grabbed his overnight bag and garment bag and left all the camping gear in the trunk.
What rooms are we in? he asked Ash in the elevator.
Two-three-one, Ash replied after checking their phone.
Twenty-three and twenty-one? he asked to confirm. That should mean they’re next to each other, right?
Ash gave him a look like he was crazy. Two-three-one. One bedroom.
Ohhhhh… He looked around to find Landon’s grinning face peeking out from behind a door. A moment later Zhong strode down the hall to help with their luggage. Since Landon wasn’t coming out, he could only imagine that he wasn’t wearing much.
He scooped Landon up when he entered the room, dropping kisses all over his face. God, he’d missed him for that one long night.
Zhong’s warm hand fell on his back, nudging him past the doorway.
Two beds. One room.
Their two devious subs had definitely planned this.
And he had no complaints.
Chapter 19
Landon
Landon woke up with a crick in his neck but a smile on his face. It took him a minute to remember where he was, but then Daddy’s arm moved over his belly, brushing the scratchy blanket against his cheek. He was in the hotel, with Ash and Zhong in the other bed. The four of them had a whole extended weekend together and nobody was working.
