Ash realized this might not be a conversation they were supposed to be observing, and they were about to look away when they saw their name.

Not really. Just… can I stay with you today? I mean, Ash is here, right?

Dustin kissed her nose. You never have to ask to come sit with me.

Lena got a wicked look on her face. Really? Because last week you kicked me out…

Dustin laughed. That’s because you were putting all sorts of naughty ideas into my head. And I still have to get this module finished by tomorrow. No distractions.

Lena pouted, crossing her arms across her chest. She was just begging for a spanking. Ash almost hoped she got it, because it didn’t look like either of them had any trouble with Ash as the audience, and that would be hot as fuck.

But that wasn’t where any of them were right now. And Lena was still maybe on the edge of subdrop and Dustin had to work. Ash decided to intervene. They tugged on Lena’s dress. Picnic. Remember?

Oh, right. Lena’s eyes sparkled. How do we do that?

Ash patted the floor beside them. You sit next to me and we eat our lunches. Then we get to play games on our phones. And we’re very, very good so that we don’t bother your Daddy.

Lena considered for a moment. OK, let me get my stuff. Lena left the room and came back in a few minutes with a paperback, a middle school Life Science book, and some comic books. She settled awkwardly onto the bean bag, looking between Daddy and Ash, like she wasn’t sure if she was doing it right. Wow. Sometimes you had to show big sisters things, too.

Ash got out the two sandwiches and handed one to Lena. They were hungry enough now to take a few bites. It was good. Weird, but good.

Ash typed into their phone.

Ash: ur rly ok? no subdrop?

They added a GIF of two little creatures pouncing on each other, with red hearts exploding outward, then waited until Lena picked up her phone.

Landon/Lena: Really, really. And Daddy checked in on me.

Ash gave Lena a very real one-armed squeeze, then went back to typing.

Ash: good. cuz this is a spy mission

They added a pic of a detective with a magnifying glass.

Ash: sit so you can see ur Daddy but he doesn’t know ur watching

Landon/Lena: Why? What are we doing?

Ash: just watch

Ash: it’s part of the mission

Ash: eat your sandwich and act normal

A moment later, Dustin looked over at them and they both burst into giggles. Oops. They were terrible spies, but it had the right effect.

Dustin gave them an affectionate smile and then turned back to his computer.

Landon/Lena: He looks happy. And relaxed.

Ash: i know! the plan is working

Ash: i want bean bags installed in every room

Ash sent a GIF of an evil genius cackling with machines covered in blinking lights behind him. Then they added one of a room filled with bean bags.

Landon/Lena: Are you little right now?
