“Hey, baby boy.” Daddy’s face filled the screen, his chocolate-brown eyes warm and pleased.

“Hey, Daddy.” He didn’t think he’d ever get tired of saying that.

“I see that your teeth are all clean. Thank you for that very cute picture.”

Isaac giggled, since it was just about the opposite of cute. Or maybe cute just to his Daddy. “I did my laundry today, too.”

“Show me.”

Isaac flipped the camera view to show his laundry basket, empty except for a folded pair of towels and the porcupine shirt on top.

“Very good, baby boy. I suppose I need to give you some points, then!”

“Yes, Daddy! And I ate all my meals today, too. I don’t think you saw my dinner picture yet.” Isaac sank down on his bed.

“You’re right. I just saw it. But I knew you did a good job because you’re the best boy in the whole world.”

Isaac glowed as an alert popped up on his screen, and then another and another. Daddy was giving him points in a different app that was designed specifically for long-distance Doms to take care of their subs. The visual themes were on the darker side of kink—all red and black, and with punishment options, too—but Daddy just gave him points with a cute sticker attached to each one.

They both agreed that they wouldn’t have any use for points once they lived together. And Isaac didn’t really need any reminders to manage his daily activities. But it felt wonderful to have Daddy check in on each part of his day. Whenever he sent a photo about pretty much anything, Daddy added points to his account.

It was bursting with points now, which meant that pretty soon Daddy would send him a surprise in the mail, or arrange a special dinner, or plan something special for the next time one of them flew across the country. It was almost winter break, which meant that Isaac was flying out to Portland.

“Thank you, Daddy!” Isaac sing-songed when the alerts stopped appearing. He wasn’t sure how Daddy assigned points, since there wasn’t any rhyme or reason to the numbers, but it didn’t really matter. All that he cared about was how he felt wrapped in love every minute of the day.

“Hey, where are you?” Isaac asked. The bookshelves behind Daddy’s head were different. Definitely not in his own house, and he didn’t think it was Craig or Marcy’s house, either.

“I’m at my parents’ house. That’s why it took me a bit longer to get away. We were all just sitting down to dinner. My whole family says hello.”

Isaac felt his face warming. “They actually said that?” He still couldn’t quite believe that he’d been accepted so easily by everyone, or that Remi apparently told them each time he called.

“Yep. Every single last one of them. You’re practically a celebrity to the kids after you spent half of Thanksgiving break giving them piggyback rides and rolling around on the lawn.”

“That was fun!”

“I know. I loved watching you.”

“And we’re going to do that with our own kids someday, right?”

“Absolutely. I’ll watch you chase them around the yard. Then we’ll put them to bed and I’ll have time to play with my own very special little boy in his very own special playroom.”

“I love you, Daddy.”

“I love you, too.” Daddy’s eyes sparkled on the small phone screen. He never held anything back. “How are your classes wrapping up?”

“Exciting. Exhausting. The usual.”

“Eight more days.” Daddy grinned. That wasn’t Isaac’s last day of class, but the day he was flying out to Portland.

“Believe me, I’m counting down!”

“Are you still having mixed feelings about spending Christmas with my family?”

“I mean, I think I always will. It’s easy to feel like my entire religion gets erased around Christmastime. But I’m looking forward to doing something special with your family during a time that’s special to you.”

“I’m looking forward to sharing it with you. But if there’s anything that feels like too much, just let me know.”

“I think it’ll be fine. I mean, it would be different if we didn’t celebrate all the Jewish holidays, too. But I liked opening all my Hanukkah presents every night.”
