“I want to feel it again,” he commands. “Want to feel you open up for me. Break apart around me.”
Doesn’t he already know how much I’m breaking for him? How he’s going to shatter me, and I’m going to let him? Because right now, he’s all I can think about, all I want.
“Break inside of me,” I command, wanting to feel him wash my insides.
“Do you have any idea what it does for me to come inside you?”
“I’m already pregnant,” I chuckle, breathless and squirming beneath his touch.
“I’d give you a thousand babies, if I could.”
I huff. “I think one will be enough.”
“You are enough,” he grunts. His fingers dig into my hip as he moves faster, not slamming into me, but dragging out the tension. Like he’s making love to me in an unconventional position.
Because nothing is conventional about us.
“Neve,” he strains.
I’m so lost in his touch that I haven’t concentrated enough to reach where he wants to take me. “I can’t,” I whimper.
“Please,” he begs, doubling his efforts, teasing me in new ways until my breath hitches.
“Yes,” he groans, as if he senses me building, climbing, winding up again. He nearly drags out of me before he rushes forward again, filling me so completely.
And I come apart as he requested. Shattering. Crashing.
He surges forward, once, twice, then stills, pressing inside as far as he can.
“Neve.” My name is a single cry, loud and rough, breaking through the laziness of the night.
And when he finally comes down, he stays inside me a little longer and wraps his arm around my breasts, clinging to my opposite shoulder.
Holding on to me.
I might be that restless kite in the wind, but he isn’t going to let me go.
CHAPTER 29
[Neve]
“Let me take you somewhere today?” he asks in the morning as we linger in my bed.
“Don’t you need to work?” He’s been working from home most days, which was another reason I didn’t feel too bad about him not helping clean out Rusty’s Wrecks. He has other things to do, like buy more real estate from people.
I swallow the bitterness of the thought.
“I make my own hours.” He watches his hand as it pushes back my hair.
“So, another surprise?” I ask, noticing a pattern in how he asks.
“I’ll even get you a coffee this time,” he teases, after the other morning when he rushed off. “I didn’t like how we left things the other day,” he admits, meeting my eyes.
“I didn’t either,” I offer, dropping my gaze, but he tips up my chin with the edge of his hand.
“I mean it, Neve. I don’t want you to push me away. I want to be here for you and the baby. I will be here for you. Both of you.”
I could scoff, but I want to believe him. Deep down inside, I don’t want to do this alone. I want Tate by my side, even if I can’t see how that will work.
