Because mentioning that to him would either cause him to push her to seal the bond in the interest of the investigation, or he would feel guilty about the bond being formed in the first place. In any case, it would complicate everything.

“Nothing clear,” Elle lied. “Just flashes. Like before.”

Silas studied her face closely, and Elle knew that he knew she was not telling the whole truth. But he didn't push.

“You need to rest,” he said. “These visions must be sucking your strength.”

“I'm fine.”

“You almost fainted.”

“I got dizzy.”

A little smile tugged at Silas's mouth. “You're the most stubborn woman I've ever met.”

“Good. Perhaps you will cease making decisions on my behalf, then.”

“Come on, let's go.”

Chapter 13 - Silas

Silas pulled Elle into his arms before she could argue. The vision had turned her pale, and his wolf was howling at him to take care of their mate.

“I can walk,” Elle muttered, not sounding convincing.

“I know you can.” Silas took her upstairs and to her room. “But you don’t have to.”

He opened her door and gently put her on the bed. Elle dropped onto the mattress with a sigh of relief, as she stared at him suspiciously while he covered her with a blanket. “I’m not going to break,” she said.

“I know that too.” Silas sat on the bedside, struggling with the urge to push a loose strand of her hair out of her face. “But you just had another vision. You are allowed to rest.”

Elle did not say anything; she stared up at the ceiling. Then she whispered, “I lied about not seeing anything.”

“I know.”

“I need to tell you what I saw.”

“You don’t have to. Not if it’s too much.”

“It’s not that kind of vision.” Elle shook her head. “It was about my magic. About how to unlock it fully.”

“How?”

Her cheeks flushed. “The bond must be fully completed.”

Could she…. “You mean..?”

“Sex,” Elle said bluntly. “We need to have sex in order to unlock my full powers.”

The word hung in the air between them. Silas sensed his wolf spring forward, eager and possessive, but he shut it down. This wasn’t about what his wolf desired. This was about Elle, her magic, and giving her control over her body and decisions.

“Are you sure that’s what you saw?” He asked carefully.

“Completely sure. I saw it clearly. My powers will manifest fully as soon as the bond is established with sex. I will be able to properly use the visions to trace the trafficking ring, possibly even to know what is going to happen in the future, and not only the past.” She fiddled with her hands under the blanket. “It will make everything easier.”

Silas heard what she did not say. That she was thinking of going through with it in spite of how much she hated him.

Anything to help those women.
