I’m drawn to her.
And I know for sure the other Kings can relate as well. That’s why Sinth didn’t waste time seeing her when she was still in the dungeon. He’s had his moment with her—enjoyed her company and got to know her on a personal level.
It’s my turn now.
I want to see her again.
I need to see her again.
The image of her in that red dress flashes in my head, and a broad smile spreads across my face. I think about how beautiful she looked with the soft fabric of her gown accentuating her figure.
My fingers close around the golden goblet in my hand as I sip from it. The flavor of the fine wine explodes on my tongue, and I savor it while thinking about her.
I think for a moment, contemplating my next move. “Fuck it.” I drain the wine glass, set the goblet on the table, and storm out of my quarters.
My brown robe sweeps the floor behind me as I stroll down the halls with majestic strides. The guards bow in reverence, the maids do the same, some hiding their flushed cheeks.
I don’t pay attention to them. My mind is set on only one woman—which, by the way, is strange.
I reach her quarters in no time and hesitate for a second before banging on her door. She doesn’t answer right away, but when she does, when she yanks the door open, my heart jumps.
I lean against the frame, unable to take my eyes off her.
My goodness! She’s gorgeous.
Her hair is still piled up on her head with loose strands framing her face. Her blue eyes seem brighter—sparkly in a way I’d missed earlier.
She’d changed into something less ceremonial—a simple dress that’s almost see-through. The hem hangs above her knees, revealing her soft, alluring, thick thighs.
My eyes fall to her chest where the neckline of her dress dips low enough to showcase her cleavage. Her voluptuous curves have me glued for a second before I quickly get a grip of myself.
I move my eyes back to her face, a small mischievous grin tugging at the corners of my lips.
“Hey, cutie.”
She stares at me like she’s trying to decide whether to slam the door in my face or not.
“I have a name.” Her voice is sweet and enticing in my ears despite the roughness of her tone.
“Speaking of.” I don’t shift my gaze from her face. “You know, I just realized I don’t know your name. None of us do.”
Her stare is almost contemptuous.
I think for a moment. “Although, I believe Chris does—I mean it’s his men who investigated your background, so they must have mentioned your name to him at some point.” A pause, then add almost to myself. “And the bastard didn’t think it was information worth sharing.”
“Blaming him doesn’t change the fact that you never asked,” she shoots back. “If you wanted to know my name, you would’ve just asked him then.”
“You’re right.” I push myself off the wall, straightening. “I didn’t because it slipped my mind.”
“Of course it did. It’s not like it was important to you anyway.”
“No, that’s not…” I scratch the back of my head. “That’s not what I meant.”
She’s managed to make me feel guilty without even trying.
I like that.
“What’re you doing here…my lord?” she asks.
