“You agreed.”

“It is a sensible plan.”

“You agreed immediately.”

“Would you prefer an argument?”

“I had prepared for one.”

Eleanor folded her arms. “Very well. Your plan is deeply flawed.”

Nathaniel nodded. “Better.”

“The spacing will create dust.”

“There is no wind.”

“It may become windy.”

“Possible.”

“And Mrs. Turner’s cow dislikes the Coleman wagon.”

“Does the cow have strong political opinions?”

“It has opinions about everything.”

Nathaniel looked thoughtful. “Then perhaps we should consult it.”

Eleanor smiled.

He pointed. “There.”

“What?”

“That.”

“What?”

“The smile.”

“I smile.”

“Occasionally.”

“Often.”

“Not when discussing wagon spacing.”

“You are impossible.”

“So, I have been told.”

Eleanor shook her head. “Keep the wagons closer.”
