She takes a gulp and nods her head. “I truly am. It’s not like I didn’t know where things were headed. I didn’t expect it all in one day, but it was inevitable. Harper’s excited about the wedding. We’re waiting to tell her about the baby. Bailey has an appointment with her doctor next week. Once they confirm the health of the pregnancy, the three of us will sit down with her and tell her.”

“You’ll be there too?” I ask.

“Yes. Harper needs to see my buy-in to Tanner and Bailey’s relationship and their expanding family. It’s best for her that I’m there with a smile on my face, letting her know it’s okay to be excited about this.”

“Is it best for you?” I ask with concern. This is a lot for her to take in. I know her divorce wasn’t easy on her.

She shrugs. “I’m a mother. My needs are secondary to my daughter’s. I’ll always choose what’s best for her. If being Aunt Fallon to her new sibling is best, that’s exactly what I’ll be.”

I kiss her cheek. This is what motherhood is supposed to look like. Ginny could take a few lessons. My ex-wife is more like, Ginny first, kids second. It was always so unattractive to me.

She looks at the glass in her hand. “Damn, this is really good.”

“I told you good wine tastes better. I’m determined to teach you the difference.”

She smiles at the constant conversation topic over the past month. When I saw some of the appalling bottles in her wine refrigerator, I poured them down the drain and replaced them with bottles I knew she’d enjoy.

“How much do you normally spend on a bottle of wine?” she asks.

“About sixty minutes,” I joke.

She tsks. “Such a wiseass.”

“Better than being a dumbass,” I’m quick to reply.

She giggles at me repeating what she said to me on our first date. “Touché, Jeffries, touché.”

“It’s not about the price,” I answer more seriously. “It’s about the vineyard, how the grapes are grown, and the climate they’re grown in. One day, I’ll take you to Napa and teach you all about it. It’s such a beautiful area. I love it there.”

“Have you been to Napa many times?” she asks.

“Yes. Three times.”

“With Ginny?” she inquires with zero edge.

“Nope. Alone.”

She sits upright and turns her head around to look me in the eyes. “You went to Napa alone? Why?”

I shrug. “She never understood my passion, nor did she care to learn about it. I didn’t want to go with her.” I run my thumb along her lower lip. “I do, however, want to go with you.”

She cups my cheek and brings her lips to mine. The kiss starts light but takes a quick turn to heavy, as it often does with us. Her tongue swipes through my mouth, and I pull her tight to my body, craving more contact. Fallon has become a bit of an addiction for me. No matter how much I get, I always want more.

She breaks it just as things are about to progress. “Wait,” she pants, “I need to talk to you before we get into this inevitable part of the evening and I forget my name, let alone what I want to talk to you about.”

I kiss and lick along the elegant column of her neck. “Mmkay. Whatever you want.”

I run my hands up the sides of her breasts. Her nipples immediately harden, and her breathing intensifies before she places her hand over my mouth. “Stop being irresistible.”

I smile into her hand and shift my hands to fully fondle her full breasts.

She lets out a moan before straddling my body. With her arms wrapped around the back of my neck, she whispers against my lips, “You’re a bad man.”

I nod as I grab her hips and rub my cock through her warm, wet center. “I crave you, angel face. I need to be inside you.”

She lifts and places my tip at her entrance before staring me in the eyes as she sinks down onto me. Her eyelids flutter, and she moans, “You feel so good.”

I smile into her mouth and joke, “Still want to talk?”
