“I’m working on it now, but in the meantime, head back our way. You can’t go off by yourself. Use your brain and think, Tank.”
“This is my problem, Fox. Not the club’s.”
“That’s a lie, and you know it. Fuck with one of us, and you fuck with all of us. Now get your ass back to the clubhouse. The more time you waste, the longer she’s in his clutches.”
“Fuck, fine,” I snap.
“I’ll have everyone ready when you get here. Oh, and grab Acid. He’s knocked out on the playground. Looks like he’s hidden under the slide,” he says before hanging up.
One last time, I scan the parking lot and the street. I take in all the cameras that could have caught something.
I don’t want to know what happened, but at the same time, I need to see it. Without wasting time, I run to the playground, grabbing an unconscious Acid, putting him over my shoulder in a fireman’s hold.
He groans, but I ignore him. He will be okay. He better hope my girl is okay too.
Tossing him into the passenger seat of the truck, I slam the door. Then I jump into the truck and take off like a bat out of hell, leaving her car behind.
I’m coming, baby. I’m coming.
CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Delaney
My head is killing me. My body feels heavy. Slowly, I blink my eyes open.
At first, I’m confused. I don’t recognize the floral wallpaper in the room. Blinking my eyes several times, I look around the room best I can from my position on my side.
That’s when I see him.
Blaine.
He’s pacing the room as he mutters to himself. That’s when it all comes back to me.
I was in the parking lot at school. My tires were slashed. I called Tank.
Then Blaine was there. We argued, and then like an idiot, I turned my back on him, and he hit me.
I realize that’s why my face and head hurt. I must have smacked my face on the asphalt when I fell.
I close my eyes and try to come up with a solution. Logically, I know that Tank is looking for me. I called him to come help me. When I wasn’t there when he showed up, he had to have figured out something was wrong. I only need to bide my time and keep Blaine away from me as long as I can.
Tank will find me.
My heart is racing in my chest. I’m trying to keep my breathing even, but the pain with each breath has me rasping a little.
“Delaney? Are you awake, honey?”
I keep my eyes closed. I hope like hell he doesn’t catch on to the fact I’m awake. My stomach rolls, nausea hitting me hard.
“You’re awake. I can tell. How are you feeling?” Blaine asks, sitting on the edge of the bed.
It’s not until he touches my chest that I realize something is wrong.
My eyes pop open as I look down. I’m completely naked.
“What the fuck, Blaine?” I gasp, moving back.
He grabs my arm, pulling me closer.
