“Why did that answer make you hesitate?”

“I talk to Hunter sometimes too,” she mumbled, making me groan.

“Rory—”

“I know,” she huffed, letting go of my hand to rake it through her hair. “He just gets me sometimes.”

“He’s syphoning information out of you. You’re giving him your vulnerabilities on a platter,” I warned, and she shook her head.

“He talks to me too. I know stuff about him that other people don’t. It’s easy to fall into conversation with him.”

“Because he’s a snake,” I grumbled, crossing my arms. “He’s too charming for his own good. You’re not seeing him too, right? Be honest with me.”

Her head snapped around to glare at me, her voice sharp. “No. I’m not.”

“Babe, I ask because I give a shit. You have no idea what will happen if Skeet—”

“I know,” she growled, her hands tight on the steering wheel. “He just keeps showing up. It’s like he’s tracking me, even when I don’t have my phone on me.”

“He can hack into security cameras. He’s probably seeing you on street surveillance and following you,” I sighed. “Want me to talk to him? I’ll tell him to back off.”

“Skeet and Slash both told him to fuck off, so I doubt you’ll convince him either. I have it under control. We have an understanding.”

“Tell me if you need me to intervene,” I ordered, relief filling me when she nodded.

She parked in the garage when we arrived, both of us wandering back outside to wait for Skeeter to finish parking so we could head inside together to update the guys on everything.

CHAPTER TWENTY

RORY

Ikind of wished the guys wanted to hand over their crowns because I really hadn’t missed the house parties full of people I hated. It was Saturday night, and Jensen’s house was booming with music.

We’d decided to have it here instead of at Caden’s since the paparazzi were still camped out there.

As promised, Caden had made sure to get security at the door, and the Psychos were there as usual, selling an abundance of drugs.

I’d planned on staying sober, it was the smart choice, but Tyler had somehow convinced me to do some lines of coke with him now that Skeeter had agreed to sell to him again.

We drank and danced, the familiar feeling of being carefree washing over me and making me laugh as Tyler made inappropriate jokes in my ear. My body felt alive, the bass pulsing through me as sweat coated my skin.

Skeeter watched us like a hawk all night, on edge with the thought of someone sneaking in.

“I need the bathroom,” I said over the music, and Tyler grinned.

“You don’t need my help this time, right?”

I flipped him off as he laughed, motioning to Skeeter that I was only going upstairs so he didn’t think I’d gone missing, then I made my way through the crowd of people to the stairs, heading up to Jensen’s private bathroom to avoid the busy one downstairs.

I did my business, wanting to get back quickly to avoid someone coming looking for me, and when I stepped into the hallway to leave his room, someone put their hand over my mouth from behind and tugged me back against their body.

Hunter’s scent filled me before he even spoke, my stupid body relaxing at knowing it was him.

“Hey, babe. The security at the door is terrible.”

I tried to bite his hand, but he just laughed and let go, spinning me around to back me against the wall.

“I can see that. What are you doing here? Other than causing trouble,” I scoffed, amusement flashing across his face.
