“Ha ha, funny,” he grinned, the humor falling from his face when Skeeter snorted.
“These two snuck off to a party in Rawson. Marco sent them packing.”
“Dude,” I groaned, but Tyler just shrugged.
“What? We got fucked up and wanted to go out.”
“You drove drunk?”
“No. We got high and Rory drove,” he said, like that made it any better.
“I’m telling mom.”
“Nobody likes a rat, Holloway,” Skeeter said dryly, his phone ringing and making him close his eyes for a second as if to prepare himself, before he hit answer and put it to his ear. “Hendricks, not today. Why do I give a shit about that? Ugh, hang on.”
He gave us a look that I interpreted as we weren’t allowed to follow him from the room, and once he was gone, Tyler muttered something about his mood being ridiculous for the amount of sex he’d had last night.
We all sat on the couch in silence for a while, and Rory randomly let out a light laugh as she shook her head in disbelief.
“My uncle’s a fucking Soldier. Of course he is.”
“Do you think that’s why they came after you? You’re rubbing shoulders with the Psychos, so maybe they don’t like that since you’re a Soldier?” Jensen offered, her lip lifting in a sneer.
“I’ll never be a fucking Soldier.”
“I don’t know what their rules are like,” he stated with a frown. “Surely that’s why they’re here.”
“If Rage sent them, then it has nothing to do with that,” I pointed out, glancing up as Skeeter stalked in with a murderous look on his face. A more murdery one than normal, anyway.
“I need to go and deal with something. I’ll call you later.”
“What happened?” Rory asked, and he hesitated before bending down to kiss her, surprising me as he actually answered.
“Hendricks got a call from Lexi. One of our girls is in the infirmary. She was shivved in the yard this morning.”
“Is she okay?”
“She will be, but now we have to figure out if it’s an issue among the women, or if the other bitch was planted in there by someone to get to us,” he sighed, pointing at Tyler. “You’re to stay sober today.”
Tyler looked ready to argue but I cut him off. “I’ll make sure he does. Be careful out there.”
Skeeter nodded and left, and I noticed Rory scrolling on her phone googling Axel’s name.
It was going to be a long day, and it was barely ten in the morning.
Rory
“You sure you don’t want to come?” Lukas asked as he poked his head into Tyler’s bedroom where I was sprawled out on the bed. Skeeter had been gone most of the day, and my text had gone unanswered when I’d asked if things were okay.
I guess he couldn’t exactly tell me about revenge plans over the phone.
Tyler had decided to go to the graveyard, a few hours of sobriety giving him some clarity surrounding his emotions, but I was more than happy to remain in my bubble of denial.
The more I avoided it, the easier things were.
I wasn’t sure it was a good idea for them to go today since they were hosting a party at Tyler’s in a few hours, but they swore they’d be fine.
“I’m good,” I answered without looking over at him, hearing him walk over before he laid down beside me and curled around me.
