“What are you trying to say?”
“The land is not just accepting Snow’s magic.” She extended a hand forward, a gust of red mist enshrouding the surface of the flowers. When they didn’t budge from the touch of death, she pulled back. “It is using it, too. When an Adriatian Aura becomes a Malefic, or when we bury a Crafter, the land will absorb their magic to feed itself, not to nourish from it.” Her breathing grew a bit faster. “It is like…like—”
“The land is healing.”
“Yes,” she agreed. “It is healing. Snow will not like this, will she? Maybe we should not tell her.”
“She doesn’t have to like it, Visha, but no one will keep a single other secret from her, understood?”
She nodded. “You’re right.”
I faded to Fernfoss where Caiden was settling with the soldiers. He and Eren were sat close to the fire in the middle of the camp, eating together away from the crowds. Pretending no one with two working eyes could tell the two had probably seen each other’s d—hells, where was I going with this.
The dickhead threw his head back and groaned when he saw me approach. “What can I do for you, Your Majesty?”
“It would be too hard to ask you to stop existing since my wife still somehow likes you. If you can find a way to do it without hurting her, I’d really appreciate it.”
“I’d laugh if your presence wasn’t the vilest encounter I’ve had all day.”
“Look at us agreeing. Surely soon we might get along.”
“You must be desperate to seek me.”
“I’d go down on my knees, if only they didn’t scream for me to turn the other way every time I see you.”
Eren chuckled under his breath. Despite his secret lover’s glares and narrowed stares, he didn’t stop. “Sit, please, Kilian. The night was growing boring.”
Caiden stretched back into the tree stump and sneered at him. “Was it?”
Eren nodded. “If you tell me you like my eyes, I’d like to also know why. Otherwise, I’m bored.”
The dickhead so poetically said, “You have beautiful eyes. They are green. Like the trees. I like trees. Don’t want to fuck trees though, much rather I do you. How about that?”
“How about that,” Eren repeated, laughing to himself.
For crescent’s sake. “They are not green,” I said, settling beside Eren. “A moss colour more like it, and he’s got some dark specks on his left one, making it almost hazel looking. Especially at night-time. I wouldn’t say they resemble trees. Perhaps a shamrock meadow. They're pretty nice in the morning covered in dew. Children love running through those.”
“What do you want, you bastard?” Caiden asked when Eren lifted a brow at him, and it was my turn to laugh.
“Manners, please. And yes, I do want something. It has to do with my brother.”
Caiden stopped chewing and lowered his food down, his entire mood shifting. “What about him?”
“I’m worried.”
“So am I, but what is that you want me to do behind his back?”
“Not behind his back, you can tell him that I came to you, if you wish. I want him to know that I am trying even if he hates me trying. I cannot give up on him, Caiden.”
“Leave it to me. It is not my first ride with that…sort of behaviour,” he said. “You trust me, don’t you?”
“With all the lives of the ones I love most.”
“What colour are my eyes?” he asked, smirking.
“This little moment between us could have lasted a bit longer.”
“Could’ve. If you knew the colour of my eyes.”
