She blinked and then howled with laughter. Trailing her hands over my torso, she pushed me down again and kissed me till I was breathless. “Are you still set on eight of them?”

“I’m set on however many you want. As long as they are with you, as long as I have you, as long as I am raising them with you.” I twirled a piece of dark hair around my fingers. “We can name them Storm, Hail, Rain, Thunder, Sunshine and such, so I can have all the weather in tiny black-haired children who will one day frighten me to an early death. Like their mother.”

Her smile was bright, so bright, yet there was a terrifying forlornness behind them. “Okay.”

“Okay?”

She nodded.

I smoothed my thumb over her soft lips. “You are being very agreeable about this.”

“We might not be here soon. I might as well let you name all of our imaginary children atrocious names.”

“My missus, since when have you started giving up before a fight?”

“I’m not giving up, darling.”

“Then stop calling our precious future children imaginary.”

She grinned at me. “The names are still atrocious though.”

“Let me down gently for once in your life, woman. I thought it to be quite the idea.”

“What if they are like me?”

“I’d be heavily entertained for the rest of my life.”

“Bad, Kil.”

“You’re not bad.”

She raised a brow and poked a finger on my chest, right over my heart. “Love does make you a fool.”

“You are not bad, Snow. The world has wanted to take everything from you and you only fought back to get what you were owed. Never more. Never what your father wants. Never at the urge of greed.”

“I’m told anger is just as bad.”

I shut my eyes tightly. “Don’t know what you’re talking about, love. Can’t really hear so well either.”

She laughed. Hard. Her entire body shaking from amusement. If there was one thing I loved, it was making her laugh because I knew she only laughed like that for me.

A heavy knock cut my mood like an axe and my very sleepy brother cracked the door just slightly open. “Brother, it is seven in the bloody morning.”

“I’m sure it is still night-time somewhere out there,” Snow replied and then turned to whisper to me, “We weren’t that loud, were we?”

“That is before you asked me to come inside of you or after?”

She sneered at me. “Pri—”

Mal knocked again, louder this time. “For the love of all dark heavens, change the bed hinges, dust was flying off my walls. You’d think the mighty king of fucking Adriata would have better quality woodwork,” I heard him mumble whilst he retreated back to his room.

“Sleet?”

She lifted her eyes at me, blinking confused. “Sleet?”

“You’re absolutely right, they are bad names.”

She shot up, bewildered. “You’d name our child Sleet?”
