“An absolute menace.”

I smiled. “I was going to say: experimental.”

He watched my finger drop down his neck, stopping over his thick pectoral, as I leaned in to sink my teeth in the hard muscle. He shifted under me, rolling his hips, and I felt his hard cock press against my sex.

He groaned when I pulled back, his fingers digging into my skin, dragging me closer to his body until my naked chest was pressed tightly against his. “You’re perfect,” he said, brushing his thumb over my pale eyelashes as he watched me with dark, hungry eyes. “So incredibly perfect.”

“Far from it,” I sighed, holding his gaze and sinking my teeth into his purlicue. “A very good and reliable blood supply right here.”

His tongue licked the top of his teeth, and he was nearly panting as he said, “Stop baiting me. I’m not going to feed on you again. You just fainted on me.”

“Nerves make me bleed and faint. I told you, I’m not good with big emotions.”

His eyes dropped to my throat when I swallowed. “Saints, I fucking hate it when you lie to me.”

“Can we not fight?”

“You said you wanted to fight with me.”

“You should also know I’d prefer it if you let me win.”

A small smile played on his lips as his eyes roamed all over my face. “Hm.”

“Maybe we should just fuck this one out.”

Dropping his head back, he laughed. And it was maddening. So bright and ridiculously warm. The urge to dig my teeth on his neck and tear that sound off his throat like a starved beast was severe. It could keep me fed for days, weeks, maybe years if I had them. Those three strange words almost slipped from my tongue.

I love you.

Chapter 21

Logan

Her back was flush against my chest as we brushed our teeth in front of the sink. The furthest from the bed we’d gotten in the past four days had been the tub, the shower and the sink. But as she’d reminded me this morning, we could ignore what was happening out there only for so long. And she’d given me another reason to want to fight this. She’d given me her.

I gathered her hair in my fist as she washed her face, shivering each time the cold water touched her skin. She turned around, wrapping her arms around my waist, holding onto me even as I leaned to spit in the sink and wash my face.

“I could ask Christof for some glue,” I said, kissing her warm, soft lips.

“All I need is a needle and some thread. I’m good at stitching things together.” Her eyes glistened as she considered it briefly. With her lips pressed to my chest, she rolled her dark gaze up at me. “I want some devilled kidneys on hot buttered toast.” She smacked a few kisses over my heart. “And a steaming cup of tea.”

Saints. If she asked me to cut my heart out of my chest, I would have dug it out of my throat and put it on a plate for her—on top of hot buttered bread. Pepper and salt on the side, just how she liked her breakfast.

“I’ll see what I can do.”

Her fingers traced the length of my spine back and forth, stopping over each dent. “You’ll cook for me? Do you even know how to turn the stove on?”

“Piper wouldn’t eat for two whole months unless I made her griddlecakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes as a snack, too. Just saying the name is starting to make me nauseous.”

She smiled, eyes and all. “I want some griddlecakes then. A little taste of Logan’s special.”

“You got a taste of Logan’s special this morning,” I said, capturing her bottom lip between my teeth. “This is the ‘my wife likes torturing me for fun’ special.”

She peppered kisses all over my neck. “Poor baby,” she cooed, sinking her pitiful teeth in my throat. She liked biting, and she liked biting hard. And Saints, it made me hard as fuck.

I chuckled, backing her against the sink when she ground her hips against mine. “You want to cut me up or eat me up?”

She finally let go, licking her lips as she pulled back to inspect the mark she’d left, tracing the tip of her finger over each little tooth dent. “If you had only a day to live, what is the first thing you’d do?”
