“Eventually, Bigsby Equine Center in Missouri. I’m not home at the moment, but will be more than happy to transfer the funds to you. And I’ll send extra if you can deliver him on a date yet to be determined.”
“We talking a week or a month?”
“We’re talking about two weeks. I won’t be home for another week, and then a few days more to get everything ready.”
“I can do that. He’s healthy. Older of course, but still very healthy for his age.”
“Can I text you my email address for an invoice? Just send me an invoice with your selling price and I’ll pay you today.”
“You don’t want to haggle his price?”
“No, sir. She loves him and I want to make sure that he belongs to her.”
“Send me your email address and I’ll send you an invoice, including delivery, and then we’ll make arrangements for a definite day.”
“Be sure your bank account is on the invoice, too so I can transfer the funds.”
“Will do. Pleasure doing business with you. Glad Hephaestus will have a soft place to land.”
“Same. Thank you, Sir.”
Clay ended the call at the same time the alarm on his watch went off, letting him know he had two minutes to get to class.
He tucked his phone away and started jogging. He’d have to wait until later to call Harper.
Chapter 13
Harper sat back after eating more than her fair share of her second plate of food.
“It’s good, huh?” Joel asked.
“So, good. I wish I had more room. There are other things I want to try, but I just have no room left.”
“You can hit it again tomorrow.”
“You can believe I will.” She reached back and took her phone out of her purse, which was hanging on the back of her chair. She opened it and checked for messages, but her fingers were smearing whatever was still on her fingertips across the screen. “Well, hell,” she grumbled.
“Problem?” Joel asked.
“No. Just didn’t realize I have something on my fingers and I’m making a mess out of my phone,” she said. She picked up a napkin and dabbed it in her water before cleaning her phone screen off, then her fingers. “Okay, let’s try this again.” She started scrolling on her phone, presumably checking for messages.
As Joel watched, he guessed she must have found what she was hoping for, based on the huge smile that lit up her face.
Harper opened the message from Clay and read it quickly.
“Hey, everything okay? I sent an email but haven’t heard from you. Hope all is well. Thinking of you. Clay.”
Harper smiled to herself the entire time she answered his text. Her heart was practically dancing at having heard from Clay.
“Sorry, didn’t see your email. I’ll check for it later. Attending a trade show for my dad. I’ll be here until Sunday evening, then flying home.
I miss you! Talk to you soon.”
She hit send, then picked up her coffee cup and sat back as she sipped it, a small smile still playing on her lips as she thought about Clay.
“Boyfriend?” Joel asked.
“Hmm?” Harper asked, focusing her attention back on Joel.
