“That’s one way of putting it.”
“We have plenty of time.”
Was it his imagination, or did she tense up just then? Yet another question he decided to park for another time. “Do you have any toys?”
Maddie blushed to the roots of her hair.
He chuckled. “Yes, I know, stupid question.” He angled her head for a kiss. “No playing.”
“What?”
He liked her confused frown. Good, he had her off-balance. “I don’t want you putting anything inside you. No dildos, no vibrators—nothing. No getting yourself off before we get together again. Understand?”
“Why not?”
“Because the next thing inside you is going to be me, so you’ll be a good girl and wait.”
Her lashes lowered for a moment, and the Dom in him signalled his approval.
“Why? Why do you want me to wait?”
“If you wait, it’ll be even better.”
“You wouldn’t know if I used a toy.”
“Would you like to bet on that?”
She gave him a wary look. “Are you trying to tell me you’re psychic now?”
“No, but I think I can read you. You have an expressive face.”
She had an exquisite face, a perfect accompaniment to her generous heart. And “perfect” was the perfect word to describe her. Everything about her was perfect for him, right down to her muffled grumbles as she settled beside him.
As he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her even closer, contentment wrapped itself around him. Such sweet perfection. He could get so used to this, he’d never want to let it go.
There was only one way for that to happen, though. He’d have to keep Maddie forever, and that meant somehow, he’d have to start finding answers to the mountain of questions growing between them.

Guy’s internal alarm clock woke him early the next morning, but not early enough to beat Maddie. Beside him, the bed was already empty, and through the open door there came the sounds of kitchen-related activity.
He rolled onto his side and propped his head on his hand, his elbow wedged into the pillow. He was considering throwing back the sheets when Maddie appeared in the doorway, one shoulder leaning against the frame. Delicious and alluring in his discarded shirt, she’d already showered and applied perfect make-up.
“Good morning.” He greeted her with the smile of a lazy, sated big cat. “You look incredible. Sleep well?”
“Wonderfully well.” She pushed away from the door and came to sit on the edge of her side of the bed. “Best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages—eventually.”
“Eventually?”
They’d spent the night together after their first joint paddle in the shallows of kink, and fooled around like a couple of teenagers. He’d taken great delight in tormenting her with suggestions of what he’d do to her the next time they got together, and left her fulfilled but still frustrated.
Guy reached across to take her hand. Enchanted by the woman who’d breathed new life into him, he absently rubbed the back of that hand with his thumb.
“It escaped your notice that we didn’t do a great deal of sleeping to begin with? I must be losing my touch.”
“I wouldn’t say that.” He remembered her touch in a delightful abundance and variety of places. “And my memory is excellent.”
He pulled on her hand, and the next second, she was lying beside him, eyes wide with surprise. He leaned over and was about to kiss her when he caught a whiff of minty freshness. Hell, he wanted to kiss her, but his mouth was less enticing than week-old used cat litter.
