I threw my arms up so they covered my face. “Shit!”
“God, I’m so sorry, Isla. That was my fault.” Frankie came around the counter and put a hand on my arm. “Please forgive me.”
I shook my head. “It’s not your fault. I suck at communicating, and it’s coming back to bite me in the ass.”
Frankie rubbed my arm soothingly.
I scoffed. “In one day, I lost my boyfriend and my best friend. I’ve somehow potentially gained my husband back, but I don’t even want him.”
“Tell him,” Frankie said sternly. “Tell him you don’t want him.”
“I don’t want to hurt him. I don’t want to hurt anyone.”
“You’re never going to avoid hurting people. While the truth sucks, and it does hurt sometimes, it’s better than the alternative. Do you want to go back to that marriage?”
“No.”
There was no hesitation. I didn’t want my marriage with Don anymore.
“Tell him that. Sign the papers.”
I nodded. “Okay.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Frankie pulled me into a hug, and I buried my face in his chest.
He was right. It was time for me to be honest with everyone.
