“Yes.”

“At some point, that’s going to become a problem.”

“For you?”

“For both of us.”

She tilts her head. “Then maybe you should stop touching me.”

I slide one hand higher along her thigh. Her eyes darken.

“Would you like me to?”

She pauses.

There it is. Not uncertainty. The opposite. She knows exactly what she wants and hates that I know too.

I lean closer, my mouth hovering just above hers without touching. “Answer me.”

Her fingers tighten slightly against my shoulders. “You first.”

“What?”

“Are you going to keep me here?”

“Yes.”

Her gaze doesn’t leave mine. “Then I guess I’m going to keep making your life difficult.”

I almost kiss her.

She knows it.

I know she knows it.

Then she breathes, very softly, right against my mouth.

“Make me be quiet.”

His mouth is still hovering over mine when I realize I have made a mistake.

Not because I want him to stop. That would make everything considerably easier.

The problem is that I want exactly the opposite, and judging by the way Vadim’s hands tighten beneath my thighs when I breathe those words against his mouth, he understands that perfectly.

“Make me be quiet.”

For half a second, he only looks at me.

There’s something almost disbelieving in his expression, as though even after everything that has happened between us, he still expected me to back down before this particular line was crossed.

Then his mouth crashes into mine, and the kiss wipes the thought straight out of my head.

I wrap my arms around his shoulders and kiss him back while he keeps me pinned between his body and the wall, one hand supporting my ass and the other sliding up my thigh beneath the loose sweater I was given this morning. His fingers are warm against my skin, moving slowly despite the hunger in his mouth, and the contrast makes every touch feel more deliberate.
