I pick up my tea again.
Five more minutes pass.
They start searching certificate history.
Better.
Still wrong.
I watch.
Another ten.
Then fifteen.
My patience expires.
I put the cup down hard enough that porcelain clicks against stone.
“Move.”
Senior turns.
“Excuse me?”
“Move.”
“This is my console.”
“Then you have had sufficient opportunity to embarrass yourself at it.”
Xavier looks down.
Definitely hiding a smile now.
His father stares.
I point at the chair.
“Out.”
“Sabine.”
“Mr. Blackwell, with affection befitting our new familial relationship, if you make me sit through another forty minutes of this, I will throw myself through one of your very expensive windows.”
“There are no windows.”
I look around.
“Then I will find one.”
Xavier steps aside.
His father doesn't.
I put both hands on the back of the chair.
“Move.”
