“Still with me?” he asked against my ear.
“Yes, I’m here.”
His free hand took my other wrist, and he held both in one large hand in front of me instead of wrenching them behind my back.
I pulled against him.
He didn’t move.
A moan slipped out of me.
Geo’s mouth touched the side of my neck.
“Your room is five steps away.”
“Then you’d better hold on.”
He let my wrists go and turned me in his arms. I shoved him again, and this time he trapped my hips before I could twist away.
I grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to kiss me.
The first touch of his mouth stripped away what was left of my restraint. Geo kissed me hard only after I bit his lower lip and dragged him closer. A rough sound came from his throat, and his hand slid into my hair without pulling.
I pushed my tongue into his mouth and tugged his shirt up.
“Take it off.”
Geo released me long enough to pull it over his head.
The scars surprised me. Several pale lines crossed his ribs and shoulder, with another disappearing along his side beneath the waistband of his trousers. I looked because they were impossible not to see.
I wasn’t asking about them tonight.
His eyes met mine for a beat, then he hooked his fingers beneath the hem of my shirt.
“Can I take this off?”
“Yes, take it off.”
He pulled it over my head. I hadn’t bothered with a bra after changing, and Geo’s breath paused when he saw me.
“Still skeptical?” I asked.
“About tarot. I’m not skeptical about this.”
I laughed, and then he kissed me again.
His palms moved over my waist and up my ribs. My nipples pressed hard against the heat of his chest. I moved closer, then twisted as if I were trying to slip away.
Geo reacted immediately and closed one hand around my hip.
“You’re trying to run again?”
“Maybe I am.”
“You picked a bad time.”
He turned me toward the hallway with one hand firm on my hip.
