His place.
Gonna get a car.
Maybe go to your place?
--PLEASE!
--Car’s on the way.
How?
--I know people too, Kenzie.
I can’t stop smiling through my tears.
What will I ever do without you?
--Hopefully, you’ll never find out.
I’m sorry I hurt you.
AGAIN.
--Same.
Same?
Who are you?
--Still just Boone.
I like ‘Just Boone’.
--Good, it doesn’t change.
--Car ETA … 5 minutes.
I need to get our bags out of here.
--Driver will help.
Thank you.
--Always.
“Rumor, we need to grab as much as we can and take it as we go. Do you think you can help me?” My frown deepens looking at her.
She nods. “I can help. We can do this.”
“Okay, Boo Baby.” I hand her a bag, gathering a few others in my hand. I scan the room to find she has all but one left to get. “I’ve got it, now let’s get outta here.”
She throws her thumb over her shoulder. “Don’t worry. Boone’s gonna kick his ass, Momma.”
“Rumor!” I gape. She slaps her hand over her mouth, giggling. “You do not use those words, even though you’re right.”
We work our way down the stairs and out the front door. A black SUV is waiting, and the driver hops out to help us.
His hand outstretched as he rounds the back of the SUV. “I’m Derick. Mister Hatcher sent me.”
